I chose this artifact as a representation of skills I have developed with regards to Critical

Thinking and Problem Solving as per the Ontario Essential Employability Skills
requirements. (Ontario, 2017)The assignment was created for my Documents 2 course
in the Office Administration Program at Durham College. This artifact accurately
demonstrates my proficient level of skill in this area. I was required to produce a
professional looking document in Microsoft Excel by analyzing the task at hand which
was to make decisions on which columns were to be used for calculating formulas in a
systematic approach.
A variety of thinking skills were used to determine the outcome of the totals. I had to
anticipate what the assignment was asking for and how to solve what needed to be
done. I learned the use and function of relative, absolute, and mixed cell referencing. I
also learned how to insert functions such as sum, max, avg, min and count which I feel
are basic excel functions that would be used in many businesses when creating Excel
spreadsheets, for example, a companys monthly sales or stats on best-sellers. The
biggest challenge with this assignment was to produce a professionally appealing
document which I did with my knowledge of the computer. This assignment, was a
success and a great insight into Excel basic functions and references that I will use
throughout my career with a showcase of my creativity and innovative thinking.
