Senior guard Asja Jenkins is about to wrap up a stellar career at Emory & Henry College as part

of the Lady Wasps Basketball Team. Jenkins recently played in her 100th game this past
Saturday as she had 10 points in the win over Virginia Wesleyan. Asja is averaging almost 7
points, 3 rebounds, and 2 assists per game. However, possibly the most intriguing yet unknown
statistic is that Jenkins has not missed a single game in her career at Emory & Henry College.
She played in every game her first three years and is one of two players that has started every
game for the Lady Wasps this year. Jenkins, who is from Richmond, Virginia, graduated from St.
Catherines which is a private school in her hometown. She started playing basketball when she
was ten years old. When asked about her favorite memory on the basketball court, Jenkins
replied, probably when I scored 20 points in the League of Independence Schools
Championship. As a player that has not missed a game during her tenure here at Emory &
Henry, it is safe to say that Asja Jenkins has played a monumental role on the current Lady
Wasps Basketball Team and is a very important figure in the Emory & Henry community.
Jenkins stated that Coach Crutchfield was a big reason that she chose to come play here.
Jenkins also said that she thought it was a pretty school when she came on her visit. With 100
collegiate games now in the rear-view mirror, Jenkins was asked if she had any pregame rituals
or superstitions that she has before every game. Her response was No. I just like listening to
music, kind of gets me pumped. Thats about it. As the end of a prolific career is drawing nigh,
Jenkins has six more games in the regular season of her senior year. Jenkins will be on the court
for these upcoming last six games and into the postseason, looking to cement her legacy as one
of the greatest Lady Wasps basketball players of all time.
