ReadMe for CxC_Domestic_1997-2015_Sector

This file contains sector-level commodity by commodity domestic requirements data from the Industry Input-Output (I-O) accounts for the years 1997-2015.
These data were released on February 17, 2017. Statistics were prepared with methodologies that are unique to the I-O accounts and are for industries
defined according to the 2007 North American Industry Classification System (NAICS). The "NAICS codes" tab contains a concordance of the I-O codes to the
associated 2007 NAICS codes.

This is the first time these statistics were released.

These statistics were prepared by the Industry Economic Accounts (IEAs) Directorate, Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA), U.S. Department of Commerce.
The statistics in these spreadsheets are not copyrighted.

Definitions, Estimation Methodology, and Additional Reading:

The revised IEAs incorporate the definitional, classification, and statistical changes of the 2013 comprehensive revision of the national income and product
accounts (NIPAs).

The I-O accounts show how industries interact; specifically, they show how industries provide input to, and use output from, each other to produce Gross
Domestic Product (GDP). These accounts provide detailed information on the flows of the goods and services that comprise the production process of
industries. The I-O accounts are presented in a set of tables: Use, Make, Direct Requirements, Domestic Direct Requirements, Market Share, Total
Requirements and Domestic Requirements. The Use table shows the inputs to industry production and the commodities that are consumed by final users.
The Make table shows the commodities that are produced by each industry. The Requirements tables are derived from the Use and Make tables. The
Domestic Requirements tables are derived from the Use and Make tables, and the Import Matrix. The Market Share Matrix is derived from the Make table.
The Direct Requirements table shows the amount of a commodity that is required by an industry to produce a dollar of the industry's output. The Domestic
Direct Requirements table shows the amount of a domestically-produced commodity that is required by an industry to produce a dollar of the industry's output.
The Market Share Matrix shows the industry shares of commodity production. The three Total Requirements tables show the domestic and imported
production that is required, directly and indirectly, to deliver a dollar of gross output to final users. The three Domestic Requirements tables show the domestic
production that is required, directly and indirectly, to deliver a dollar of gross output final users. The Use table is the most frequently requested table because
of its applications to the estimates of GDP.

Accounts" published in September 2006 and updated in April 2009 at:
