 DDCTool Installation

Introduction This document contains information about the commissioning and

maintenance tool DDCTool V4.x, installing and uninstalling. This
DDCTool includes the CMT/DCS 500 functionality.
Within this document we assume that your DDCTool installation
directory is or will be C:\Program Files\ABBTools\DDCTool 4.0. If
that is not so, please use your actual drive and directory names
instead.
The information in this documentation is intended for users who are
familiar with Windows operating systems and PCMCIA cards.
Important
For the programs the following is required:
Windows 2000 Service pack 1
Windows NT4 Service pack 6
The installation requires administrator access.
Please note
Driver and software versions that appear in the screen captures in
this documentation are not necessarily the latest version available.
The version you use should be the version that appears in the
screen capture or a later version.

What's new The new DDCTool, version 4.0, has the following enhancements:
Modification for the new PCMCIA card SNAT624.
New drivers for this new PCMCIA card SNAT624 for
WIN NT4 and WIN 2000.
The SETUP programs are totally new.
The CMT/DCS500 exists no more as a stand alone program.

What's not new DDCTool and CMT/DCS500: The new program version 4.0 has the
same functionality as the old version 3.4 for WIN 3.1x and
WIN 95/98:
CMT/DCS500: The new DDCTool version contains also the
CMT/DCS500 program part from the old version.
The CMT/DCS500 program part, used with DCS 500(B) and
UNITROL, can be used with one single drive only.

DDCTool Installation

The way to the setups 1. Start your operating system if it does not start automatically.
2. Insert the "DC DRIVES Customer Information" CD-ROM into
the CD-ROM drive.
3. If autorun is enabled, the main menu will be shown
automatically. Please go to point 5
4. If CD-ROM did not start automatically, click the Start button and
then click Run. In the Open field type x:\autorun, where x is
the letter of the drive containing the CD-ROM. Click OK.
5. On the main menu click on Tools Installation.

After this click on CMT/DCS Tools.

6. Please read at first this documentation
It contains important information about the installation of the
DDCTool for Windows NT4 and for Windows 2000.

Installation for The installation requires:

Windows NT4:
- CD-ROM: CardWare for Windows NT
- CD-ROM: DC DRIVES Customer Information
- SNAT624 (PCMCIA)

Please note:
- Before starting the setup take care that you have the
administrator access.
- Before starting the setup of DDCTool installation of
CardWare software is required.
For testing with the drive:
- Adapter to optical fibre cable: NDPC-02
- Double plastic fibre cable (10m)
- e.g. DCS 500 with SDCS-COM-5 or SDCS-COM-1

Setup of CardWare Please read at first the README.TXT of the CardWare CD-ROM in
the subdirectory DISK1.

Please note before starting the setup:

- This CardWare program is only to be used for Windows NT4.0.
Dont install this release on Windows NT3.51 or
Windows 2000!
- The setup will copy the settings of the actual profile into a new
profile "CardWare profile", so that the user can select running
with or without CardWare wizard. Some pc cards, like the
pcmcia for the ABB tool DriveWindow, can not run with a
pcmcia wizard.
Please start your PC with the profile you want to use e.g. the
DDCTool (e.g. Undocked, without network).

Now start the setup of CD-ROM of CardWare. You will find the
setup under the subdirectory DISK1. Please follow these
instructions. After finishing the setup please allow a restart.

After restarting the license number is asked, please write the

license number.

Test of the CardWare The correct installation of the CardWare program you can check
installation with the pccard SNAT624
Plug in the SNAT624.
The following window should be shown:

Please click No
On the task bar double click on the pcmcia symbol

Please check that ABB SNAT624-HDLC-Card is found:

Setup of DDCTOOL Please note:

program Before starting the setup take care that the CardWare Wizard is
installed and that the SNAT624 is plugged in.
Please follow these detailed instructions.
The Setup of the DDCTool can be found on CD-ROM
"DC DRIVES Customer Information".

Start Setup Before starting the setup you should close all other applications.
Start the setup by clicking on Installation of CMT/DDCtool NT.

The Installation button will open a File Download window.

Select "Run this program from its current location",

then click Ok.
Dont "Save this program to disk", because not all necessary
files will be copied.

A security warning will appear.

Click Yes
Now the InstallShield Wizard will be opened.

Click Next

Write your name and your organization

and after this click Next

It is recommended to select Typical

and click Next.

Please check the current settings.

If ok continue with Install, otherwise click Back.
For changing the "Destination Folder", go back and select
Custom instead of Typical

During installation the files will be copied, the driver for SNAT624
will be installed.

After the completed installation click Finish.
Very important:
After the installation the driver of the SNAT624 is enabled in all
hardware profiles. This driver must not be started, if the
CardWare software is not running. Without the running
CardWare software the driver could be the reason of a blue
screen.
This driver has to be disabled in all profiles without CardWare
software.
Please reboot your computer and select the
"CardWare profile" profile

Click on the Start button, then select Settings and then

Control Panel.

Click and open Devices

Look for "ABB SNAT624 Adapter Driver" and mark it,

click on HW Profiles.

Select the profiles without CardWare one after the other and
disable them.

After this click OK.

Reboot your computer

Starting DDCTool Connect the optical fibre cable between the NDPC-02, which is to
be connected to the SNAT624, and the connectors V1 and V2 of
the board (SDCS-COM-1 or SDCS-COM-5).
On desktop the setup has created the shortcut

Uninstall DDCTool for Click the Start button, then select Settings and then
Windows NT4 Control Panel.
After opening Add/Remove Programs select the program
DDCTool Ver. 4.0 (for NT4 or for 2000).

After clicking Add/Remove the uninstall shield will be started.

Installation for The installation requires:

Windows 2000: - CD-ROM: DC DRIVES Customer Information
- SNAT624 (PCMCIA)

Please note:
- Before starting the setup take care that you have the

Start Setup Before starting the setup you should close all other applications.
Start the setup by clicking on Installation of CMT/DDCtool 2000.

During installation the files will be copied, the driver for SNAT624
will be installed.

After the completed installation click Finish.

The setup of the DDCTool program is finished.

Now do the installation of the SNAT624.

Installation of SNAT624 Now insert the PCMCIA card SNAT624.

The new hardware is found.

The setup of the DDCTool program has copied the driver

Snat624.sys into the directory C:\WINNT\system32\drivers.
Browse to this directory C:\WINNT\system32\drivers

After browsing click OK.

The driver is installed and the PCMCIA card SNAT624 is known.

Starting DDCTool Connect the optical fibre cable between the NDPC-02, which is to
be connected to the SNAT624, and the connectors V1 and V2 of
the board (SDCS-COM-1 or SDCS-COM-5).

Properties of The status of the ABB SNAT624-HDLC-Card-PCMCIA has a

ABB SNAT624-HDLC.. question mark, which is ok.
If there are problems, please check the properties.
Double click the PCMCIA symbol in the start line

Select ABB SNAT624-HDLC-Card-PCMCIA and click Properties.

Uninstall DDCTool for With uninstalling all installations of the setup program will be
Windows 2000 deleted. Other saved files, like own saved parameter settings will
not be deleted.
Click the Start button, then select Settings and then
Control Panel.
After opening Software select the program
DDCTool Ver. 4.0 for WIN2000.

After clicking Remove the uninstall shield will be started.
