MICHAEL S.

RAWLINGS ERIC JOHNSON

Mayor of Dallas State Representative

April 20, 2017

Delivered via email: Toni.Pippins-Poole@dallascounty.org

Dear Ms. Pippins-Poole:

We respectfully request that the Dallas County Elections Department take whatever steps
necessary to restore voter confidence in West Dallas. We were deeply troubled by recent
media reports of possible voter fraud in this area of the city. According to reports, dozens
of voters received mail-in ballots they never requested. This suggests the possibility of a
coordinated effort to benefit a candidate or candidates in the upcoming Dallas City
Council elections.

Whats more startling is that this is the second time in less than a year that we have heard
reports of irregularities in West Dallas. In November, media reports indicated someone
fraudulently mailed ballots for dozens of elderly or dead voters.

It is imperative that our constituents in West Dallas and throughout the city have
confidence in our electoral system. Therefore, we ask that you devote additional resources
to verify the integrity of each mail-in ballot in Dallas. We look forward to hearing from you
soon regarding your plan.

Best regards,

Michael S. Rawlings Eric Johnson
