HUBUNGAN INDEKS MASA TUBUH (IMT) DENGAN KEJADIAN

OSTEOARTRHITIS GENU PADA PASIEN DI POLIKLINIK
REHABILITASI MEDIK RSUPDr.MOHAMMAD HOSEIN

Latar Belakang.
signifikan yaitu p=0,001 (ood ratio (OR) 12, dengan 95% confidence interval (CI) 2.34-
61.52).
interval (CI) 2.34-61.52.

ABSTRACT

ASSOCIATION OF BODY MASS INDEX (BMI) WITH KNEE OSTEOARTRHITIS

CASE IN PATIENTS OF MEDICAL REHABILITATION POLICLINIC
AT RSUP Dr. MOHAMMAD HOESIN PALEMBANG

(Dhanty Mukhlisa, December 2016, 65 pages)

Introduction. Knee osteoarthritis is a degenerative disease that is chronic and characterized

by joint cartilage loss. There are many risk factors can causes knee osteoarthritis. Obesity
causes a shift of body mass resultant to medial area of knee so that the load received by knee
joint will be uneven. A shift of bodys fulcrum will cause cartilage thinning. BMI is a widely
used parameter in determining bodys proportion criteria. IMT value obtained from the weight
in kilograms divided by height in square meter (kg/m2).
Methods. This study used observational analytic retrospective (backward direction), with a
case-control study design.. All osteoarthritis patients which fulfill the inclution criteria at
medical rehabilitation installation RSUP. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang October until
November 2016 was taken as samples by quota sampling. Data were obtained by filling data
of weight and height measurements, then processed using Chi-square test.
Results. In this study, subjects with BMI 23 in case group have greater (64.9%), BMI 23
(overweight-obese) there was a significant relationship with p = 0.001 (ood ratio (OR) 12, and
95% confidence interval (CI) 2.34-61.52).
Conclusion. There is a significant relationship between BMI 23 (overweight-obese) and the
incidence of OA genu with p = 0.001 (ood ratio (OR) 12, and 95% confidence interval (CI)
2.34-61.52.
