INTRODUCTION
The events in Paris were a human tragedy. For many people directly affected or close to
some who was, the scars, physical and emotional, will endure and there will be a wider
impact on the foreign policy of Europe and on domestic security.

The Charlie Hebdo magazine was published from 1969 to 1981, and has been again
from 1992 on. The magazine was a French satirical weekly magazine featuring cartoon,
reports, polemics and joke. The magazine had been the target of terrorist in 2011 and 2015
.Charlie Hebdo has a history of attracting controversy. In 2006, Islamic organisations under
French hate speech laws unsuccessfully sued over the newspaper's re publication of the
Jyllands Posten cartoons of Muhammad and give rise to anger to the people of Muslim to
Islam religion.

The attack happen on 7 January 2015 at about 11:30 local time , the attackers was Said and
Cherif Kouachi , forced their way into the offices of the French satirical weekly newspaper
Charlie Hebdo magazine in Paris. Twelve people are dead and eight wounded, including four
who are fighting for their lives, after a massacre by masked men armed with assault rifles,
rocket-propelled grenades and bulletproof vests at the offices of the satirical weekly Charlie
Hebdo in Paris. The cartoonists Charb, Cabu, Tignous, and Wolinski were among the dead.
The gunmen identified themselves as belonging to the islamist terrorist group al Qaedas
branch in Yemen, who took responsibility for the attack. Several related attacks followed in
the ile-de-france region, where a further five where killed and 11 wounded.

After that time, France raised its Vigipirate terror alert and develop soldier in ile de france
and Picardy. A massive manhunt led to the discovery of the suspects, who exchanged fire
with the police. The brothers took hostage at a signage company in Dammartin-en-goegle on
9 January and were shot dead when they emerged from the building firing.

THE EFFECT OF CHARLIE HEBDO SHOOTING

POLITICAL EFFECT

The due terrorist attack on Charlie Hebdo magazine there was several effect on France
politic. Massive response to the Charlie Hebdo attack will backfire. President Obama has
been faulted for not attending a huge unity rally in Paris in the wake of attacks there by
Islamist terrorists, but his sense of proportion may look somewhat different as soon as six
months from now.

So far, the attack also effecting the presidential election in France. A businessman Donald
Trump and former neurosurgeon Ben Carson, have been among the most popular candidates,
but Peter Nicholas and Beth Reinhard of The Wall Street Journal suggest that voters might
start questioning the leadership ability of candidates who lack political experience. They
write, "The Paris attacks and potency of Islamic State, which France blames for the deadly
assaults, could reshuffle the field as voters ask. Is this the moment to turn over the presidency
to an untested outsider?"

Furthermore, in a rare address to a joint session of parliament, French President Francois

Hollande sought a series of steps that he said would strengthen France in the wake of the
attacks. They include a three-month extension of the countrys state of emergency, a
constitutional amendment that he said would make it easier to combat terrorism; the power to
strip the French citizenship of dual nationals convicted of terrorism, more effective border
controls for the European Union, and increased funding for the military, police, and security
forces. France also sought a never-before-used clause in the Treaty on European Union that
would oblige other member states to provide it with aid and assistance by all means in their
power. All of the blocs 28 member states agreed to the request.

It also made the political mood was tense. France is engaged in a new military operation
in the Sahel region of north African in an effort to stop the emergence of jihadist groups.
About 3,000 soldiers are deployed in a vast area from Mauritania to Niger and Chad,
following an earlier French intervention in Mali in 2013 to counter an Islamist insurgency.
That Mali intervention was such a priority for Hollande that he declared a visit to the capital,
Bamako, the most important day of his political life.

3
However, European nations have already pushed for tighter anti- terror controls including
an EU-wide database of passenger travel information, increased internet surveillance and
even changes to the Schengen border-free travel area. Many of the mooted changes are not
new initiatives, but have stalled for years in the face of resistance from some member states
in the 28-nation bloc, which jealousy guard their intelligence.

On 11 January, about two million people, including more than 40 word leaders , met in
Paris for a rally of national unity and 3.7 million people joined demonstration across France.
The phrase je suis Charlie ( French for I am Charlie ) was a common slogan of support at
the rallies and in social media. The remaining staff of Charlie Hebdo continued publication,
and the following issue print ran 7.95 million copies in six language , in contract to its typical
print run of 60 000 in only French.

It also make EXTREME right groups have made significant headway in European
parliaments over the past decade, and look set to benefit from the recent events in France.

4
ECONOMIC EFFECT
The attack on Charlie Hebdo also affect the France economy. France economy was
struggling hard to recover after some difficult years. This attack tend to send initial shock
through financial markets and cause immediate declines in industries such as tourism, experts
say the economic effects arent long lasting. And in some cases, terrorism and ensuing
periods of increased investment security and defence spending are a boost to economic
activity.

According to economics professor at the University of Texas at Dallas, Todd Sandler

explain that in general, terror attacks arent enough to derail a relatively strong economy,
even during period of slow growth. Thats largely because citizen and investors are confident
that officials have the resources to adjust.

Overall, foreign visitors accounts for more than 80 percent of customers at Paris luxury
hotels. According to Bain & Company research, tourist spending also drove 60 percent of
revenue in the France luxury market in 2013. Many would-be visitors cancelled their plans to
go to Paris or Brussels. In the case of Brussels, 40% of hotel bookings were cancelled over
the weekend of the security clampdown according to Olivier Willocx, head of the Brussels
Chamber of Commerce.

Next, before the terrorist attack on Charlie Hebdo magazine, France was the worlds
sixth largest economy, but it all changed. Now, the economy of France growing at just 0.2
percent. While its not actually booming, the country should be able to withstand major
economic fallout from the Charlie Hebdo attacks. The CAC 40 tracking the leading shares on
the Paris bourse yesterday ended little changed, and the index is still about 12% higher since
the January attacks.

This deadly attacks in Paris earlier this month could have a lasting impact on tourism if
anti-France protests that have swept the Muslim world lead wealthy Arabs to shun the city.
According to MKG data that the hotel in Paris saw occupancy rates drop 3-5 percent year-on-
year between Jan 8 and Jan 12. The drop accelerated to 10 percent between Jan 15 and Jan
18, coinciding with the start of the anti-France protests, with upscale hotels showing the
steepest falls.

The economy has a tremendous way of equilibrating and adjusting to risk. Of course, the
direct costs of death and damage can be expensive.

CONCLUSION

"And when faced with war, the country must take appropriate decisions," Hollande said.
"An act committed by a terrorist army, DAESH [ISIS], against what we are, a free country
that speaks together with the planet."Hollande said the attacks were prepared and planned
with outside complicity.

In the nutshell, this terrorist attack causes many destructions, deaths and negative impacts
to both sides. As for France their politic became unstable after the attack. This will also leads
to major problem that related with the world where every countries might have an economic
crisis. Despite from that issue, this will make a very hard problem issue that can cause many
money to support the fallen country such as France.

As for Muslim in France they are living in fear because the non-Muslim local resident call
them as terrorist also. They afraid to go out their home to do their daily life activity. This also
leads to a major problem on economy in France. Tourist afraid to go on vacation in France
regarding on this attack. Based on expert research, the rate of economy in France was
dropped but the economy has been rising a bit through the year.
