Fact Sheet
Mission: The mission of the Office of Student Engagement is to connect students to leadership
opportunities, campus involvement, and the campus community in the spirit of the Notre Dame
College Mission.
Liz Cappabianca is the Director of Student Engagement and Leadership.
Liz came into NDC about two years ago in 2014, and replaced Becky Barger McBride
Branding was revamped from Student Activities to Student Engagement when Liz came in
Liz was hired in summer of 2015
Her job is plan events for students on campus
There were close to 90 over the school year.
Liz has been asked to create a Student Affairs email by Dr. Karl Rishe, that includes, Campus
Ministry, The Falcon Caf, Performing Arts, Residence Life, Counseling Center and the
Ombudsman coordinator
The email has about a 60% open rate and a 2% link click rate
Her email from student affairs includes things going on in South Euclid
The most success events are Homecoming, the Lip Sync Battle, and Open Mike Night a list of
events that were put on was given to the PR team to look at and had attendance numbers attached
Liz wants students to be engaged regardless whether they are participating in an event she put on
or an athletic event
There is also no requirement for the number of events that Liz has put on.
Magnets were made for the fall semester with student engagement events and put on doors in the
residence halls.
We also learned that numbers impact events when Liz meets with President Kruczek
She is trying to go paperless.
She views Instagram as her most useful.
She depends on the webmaster to update the master calendar
She was directed to integrate all campus events into her newsletter. The other departments do not
reciprocate the communication announcements.
Newsletter 60 % open rate, but a 2% click link rate
Last year, she spent a lot of time branding. She created give aways with student engagement
printed on them. She created magnets with the Fall schedule of her events on residence hall
doors.
Her office is on the tour route for admissions.
