The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum is located in Washington DC
and is the national institution for the documentation, study, and
interpretation of Holocaust History. The museum has permanent exhibits
about the Holocaust as well as traveling exhibitions such as one about the
Berlin Olympics in 1936. The goal of this facility is to teach about the
Holocaust as well as remember the people who were affected by the
genocide.

The Museum is located where the World Trade Center was before the terrorist
attacks. The Museum has artifacts from the attacks and words to educate
people and remember those who were lost in the tragedy. There are both
guided tours and walking tours available. Adult cost is $24 and students 7-17
are $15.
Flight 93 Memorial

The Flight 93 Memorial was built to honor and remember the 40 people on
board of American Airlines flight 93 on September 11, 2001. The passengers
and crew caused the plane to crash in order to prevent the terrorists from
flying the plane into the Capitol. The memorial site has a wall with all of the
peoples names on it as well as a side walk that shows the flight path of the
plane. Inside the visitor center is a small museum with information about the
attacks on 9/11 as well as artifacts from the site in PA. Admission and parking
are free.

National World War I Museum and Memorial

The National World War I Museum and Memorial was originally build by the
people of Missouri to remember and honor the great war that was fought by
the Americans. It has one gallery/museum area and more than 7 other
monuments on site. One of the most striking is the Liberty Memorial Tower.
The Liberty Memorial Tower stands 217 feet above the main courtyard.
Guests are able to take an elevator and then 45 stairs to the top for a view of
the Kansas City skyline. Admission Adults $14, children (6-17) $12

City Museum

The city museum is located in St. Louis Missouri. It is a childrens
museum/playground that is built in 600,000 sq. feet of area. The City
Museum first opened in 1997 and is made of recycled materials that the
founders have gathered over the years. The museum has slides, climbing
areas, recovered planes, caves, a circus, and so much more. It is a place the
encourages imagination and exploration.

The Childrens Museum creates an environment that fosters curiosity and
learning. The museum has 3 collections; American Collection, Natural
Science Collection, and World Cultures Collection. Each of them contain
thousands of artifacts from different times and places to enrich the learning
experience. The Childrens Museum in Indianapolis is known to be one of the
best childrens museums in the United States.

Jarrell Plantation Historic Site

The Jarrell Plantation Historic Site is one of the few remaining plantations in
the south. It has been preserved by the Jarrell Family and was gifted to the
state to take care of it and remember the culture and history behind slavery
and plantations. Originally, the plantation was 400 acres and maintained by
39 slaves but later grew to 1,000 acres. Now, the property has a museum
with an educational film, plantation buildings and a gift shop for visitors.
Admission is only 6.50 fir adults and $4 for children. Guided tours are
available during the week of requested in advance.

Grand Canyon National Park


The Grand Canyon is a canyon that was formed by the Colorado River over
thousands of years. The canyon is 277 miles long and can be as wide as 18
miles across. The Grand Canyon National Park provides Park Ranger led field
trips free of charge to school groups. The field trips are curriculum based and
curriculum ideas can be found on the Grand Canyon National Park website.

National Underground Railroad Freedom Center

The National Underground Railroad Freedom Center is dedicated to the
people who sought freedom and those who helped them reach freedom in
the North through the Underground Railroad. The museum has permanent
and traveling exhibits as well as tours specifically designed for curriculum
based on grade level. Admission is only $7 for children and adults when
coming with a school group.

Patriots Point Naval and Maritime Museum is a museum and harbor with
artifacts and ships from wars and the only Vietnam War Experience in the
United States. The museum offers overnight visits in a ship as well as other
learning/field trip activities based on grade level.
