April 2017 Newsletter

April News
Easter was such a great time for us. We
were able to re-enact the Easter story
for our Shiyabazali people. They were so
excited to be able to have an Easter
worship time. The children of Shiya loved
their new Run 4 God shirts.
Sibongumbomvu kids are finding that
learning to read can be such fun. We are
learning our New Testament books in song.
We enjoyed our Sweetwaters reunion BBQ.
Everyone celebrated that "He is Risen
Indeed"!
Flash Card Bingo
Every Tues and Wed from 9-10am,
we head up a tutoring program with
the grade 5 kids at Sibong School.
We have 5-7 volunteers from our
Hilton Bapt come along each day.
Each adult reads a Bible story to
their reading group and unpacks the
gospel to the kids. After wards, we
use readers and bingo flash card
games to grow their vocabulary. So
far the kids and adults are having a
ball learning to read and hearing
more about Christ and all he has
done for us.

"Matthew, Mark,
Luke, John..."
Before the tutoring begins,
we are teaching the Sibong
kids all about the Bible. We
use a song for them to learn
their books of the Bible in
order. This term we hope to
learn all the books in order
for the New Testament. If
they master the song, they
will earn their very own kids
bible. They don't seem to Sweetwaters Reunion BBQ
mind Paige's bad singing so
far. HA! We had a lovely time as all
the interns, translators, and
our SW bible study kids came
over for an old fashion South
African Braai (BBQ). We
played Jacob's favorite game
"Jungle Speed" and a SA
board game called 30
Seconds. Hats off to Thomas
the Braai master. The grilled
meat was par excellence.
"Forgive them for
they know not what
they do"
The Hilton Baptist youth
intern and our Tear Fund
interns put on a great re-
enactment of the Easter
story for the people of
Shiyabazali. It really drove
home to our patients just
how much Christ suffered
and died for our sins yet
only offers each of us
He is Alive! forgiveness and love.

Shiyas Easter Service

The Shiyas people really enjoyed the praise and worship time
after the intern Easter skit. They were so excited about
getting to participate in a service to celebrate the Risen
Savior and remember all He has done for us.
