Competency A Professionalism and Understanding:

You continue to demonstrate commendable professionalism and commitment

to the profession. You relate to the learners and your MST very well indeed.
Good job in mastering patience to deal with deviant behaviour for example;
your redirection of the interesting learner who came in late just as I arrived
for my visit. Your emotional intelligence was exemplary.

Category B Planning for Learning:

A lesson plan was presented before the lesson. The material and content of
the lesson were appropriate for the class level. However, the learning
outcomes were somewhat ambiguous because the verb "review" is not
demonstrable in behavioural terms to cover all the activities to be
demonstrated actively by the learners. What is more the assessment
strategies for this lesson also require some clarification.

Category C Implementing and Managing Learning:

Found the lesson in stride - the learners were working on how to build
questions about BUGS. The examples provided on the board for the class
discussion were very efficient and effective. Then the learners, working in
groups, were tasked to complete a sentence starting with DO or DOES about
the bugs provided. The class discussion went very well. The learner
responses were very satisfactory. You missed a teaching point to use the error
from the group with the cricket - "Does the cricket the fly?" Remember that
error correction not only prevents fossilisation of the error but contributes to
reinforcement of correct forms of the target language. The follow-up
individual activity was very well set up with the a very effective example. The
learners worked very quickly and enthusiastically - the responses were
generally very satisfactory. You did very well building an example sentence

on the board. You could have offered You might want to reduce the down
time during the correction of Learner responses at the front of the room -
easily solvable by providing activists for learners to do as you corrected the
work.

Category D Monitoring and Assessment of Learning:

Overall, your class management continues to be very satisfactory. The

learners were kept on task and you used Q & A very efficiently to elicit
desired responses from the learners.
You also continue to provide very satisfactory scaffolding for the learners
during group tasks.

Category E Reflection:

Your reflection and self-appraisal were very satisfactory. You were spot about
the need to provide learners with explicit instructions for tasks. Remember
that critical self-evaluation is essential to balanced professional development.

Strengths of the Lesson:

The main strengths of this lesson were: Exemplary classroom control, very
good rapport with the learners, and use of Q & A .

Areas for Development:

Continue working on ensuring that you give a solid model to avoid

fossilization of teacher errors by the learners. It is a pity that the learners
were still mispronouncing the word ANTENNAE - /antini/ for /anteni/.

Focus for next lesson:

Please continue providing more opportunities for the learners to use the
target structures. The learners in this class are very well motivated and have
a lot of potential to excel.
