Describe how you would use the Online Project/Collaboration Site/Publishing
Opportunity in your classroom: I would use Journey North as a research project for
the students. The students will search the website for a topic they would like. For
example they can pick an animal/other topic first, there can be no more than two
students per animal/topic. They can either work collaboratively or individually.
Creating a presentation for them to communicate what they have found to the
class. They will spend a week researching and putting their facts on their
presentations then the following week they will be presenting to the class.
What technologies would be required to implement this proposed learning activity
in a classroom? Ipads, mobile devices, computers, tablets, etc.
Describe how the following features are addressed in this learning experience
(note: all of them may not be addressed in the project, but most should be if you
are reaching a high LoTi Level.):
a. Collaboration with peers, near-peers, mentors outside their classroom
and often beyond their school: If the students choose to work in pairs,
they have to collaborate in not including the same facts and divide
the work evenly between both of them.
b. Student-centered learning and knowledge creation (collecting original
data and or producing original products as a result of engaging in the
project): They will create an original product using Journey North as a
resource. They will choose their topic and their presentation format.
c. Higher-order thinking: Students will gain a better knowledge of
aspects around the world that are unfamiliar to them.
d. Students publishing their original work to others who will use/care
about their product: Students can post their projects onto the
classroom blog in order for other students or teachers or parents to
see if they need to in a later time.

What Level of Technology Implementation best describes this learning activity and
Why? The technology implementation being used is the level of LoTi 4 or higher.
This is because students will be applying their knowledge by creating a
presentation for the class and other audiences to see.
How could you implement this proposed learning experience and still comply with
your districts Internet Safety and Student Privacy policies? I would use a
protected password on my blog where the students will submit their projects and I
will only give the students parents the password in order for them to see their
students work.
