Describe how you would use the Online Project/Collaboration Site/Publishing
Opportunity in your classroom: KidPub is designed for kids to improve their
writing skills with a worldwide audience. I will use this site for students
to post their sentences about what they are writing about and the
information surrounding the topic.
What technologies would be required to implement this proposed learning activity
in a classroom? A tablet or computer should be used to implement this learning
activity in the classroom.
Describe how the following features are addressed in this learning experience
(note: all of them may not be addressed in the project, but most should be if you
are reaching a high LoTi Level.):
a. Collaboration with peers, near-peers, mentors outside their classroom
and often beyond their school: Students will be able to
collaborate with other peers by leaving messages about their
peers writing and also reading their peers writing.
b. Student-centered learning and knowledge creation (collecting original
data and or producing original products as a result of engaging in the
project): Students are able to produce their own writing and
post it on the site for their peers to read and engage in.
c. Higher-order thinking: Higher order thinking is established
because students are able to collaborate with each other by
reading and engaging in each others writing.
d. Students publishing their original work to others who will use/care
about their product: KidPub is a website strictly for kids to
improve their writing skills with a worldwide audience.
Students will be posting their writing to an audience that
cares and would like to help them improve their writing skills.

your districts Internet Safety and Student Privacy policies? Parents will have to
sign Internet Safety and Privacy Policy permission slips before students are able to
participate in this activity. KidPub is strictly for kids and teachers are able to
monitor any activity and comments left for students to read. Also, parents are
able to choose the level of information that they decide to give to the website.
KidPub states that in accordance with the Childrens Online Privacy Protection Act,
they are not allowed to disclose any information that is not needed for normal
activity on the site.
