Training continues
to inspire staff

Training continues to be an important part
of staff upskilling at Motibhai Group.
In a recent update, various staff members
of the Group representing respective subsid-
iaries were part of two separate sessions con-
ducted by Ranju Kumar of Smart Train.
The training guru who has years of hu-
man resources and coaching skills experience
shared her vast knowledge with staff mem-
bers on Business Writing Skills and Motiva-
tion Training respectively.
Business Writing Skills
23 staff members from Prouds, Burger
King and Waqavuka Development Com-
pany participated in the one-day training at
the head-office. According to Ms Kumar, the
main aim of the training was to get the partici-
pants to understand the basic structure, objec-
tives and tips in business writing for different
situations.
Common grammar issues, spelling, proof-
reading, language, tone and review skills,
professional and effective writing skills were
some of the key highlights, Ms Kumar said.
She said the session was a very practical
one full of mini activities and examples.
Tips for good writing, challenges faced
in business writing and possible causes and
solutions, tools and techniques of good writ-
ing, different types of writing such as business
proposal, reports, general documents, letters,
and emails were discussed in length.
Business writing is a skill and it requires
practice and it is highly recommended that
employees take the initiative to learn and
know the fundamentals first when it comes to
business writing, Ms Kumar said.
She said the second stage of this session
may follow later in the year.
Motivation Training
48 staff members participated in the Moti-
vation Training session which was also a one-
day event but broken down into two sessions.
The key learning of this session was un-
derstanding motivation process, benefit,
theories of motivation and its relevance to
business, factors that influence motivation,
linking performance to motivation level, ap-
plication of motivation strategies at work, role
of leaders in motivating staff and so on, Ms
Kumar informed.
While highlighting the features of a good
motivation system, staff members actively
participated in role plays and group activities
to validate the knowledge they learnt, Ms
Kumar added.
Motivation is instrumental in ensuring that
employees who have the talent and ability
continue to deliver exceptional performance.
"Companies can incorporate motivational
activities in the job, specifically in the areas
of training, coaching, special projects and job
rotation.
