Operation of TR-7570

TR-7570 is a temperature scanner cum controller, used on dry / cast resin power transformers to
protect them from over-heating.
Four temperature sensors (RTD Pt-100, type S-02) installed at different locations on transformer
(three numbers in three phase windings & one on core) are to be connected at terminals 1 to 12. In
normal mode (Auto) the controller displays the temperature of all these four channels sequentially. For
RTD and power supply connections please refer the engineering manual.
For Channel No. 2, analog output signal of 4-20mA for the range of 0-300 oC. is provided. This is
available on terminals 25 & 26.
The settings provided on the controller are as under,
o When any one of the channels temp. exceeds 90 oC., relay marked Fan switches on, to start
the external cooling fan. This fan relay is turned off when the temperature falls below 82 oC.
o When any one of the channels temp. exceeds 160 oC, relay marked High switches on. This
relay turns off when the temperature falls below 156 oC.
o When any one of the channels temp. exceeds 180 oC. relay marked V. High switches on.
This relay turns off when the temperature falls below 172 oC.
o Relay marked Fault operates as under,
The fault relay will energize as soon as the power is provided to the controller. When all
sensor conditions are normal & power to TR-7570 is available, the fault relay will remain
energized and it will turn off in the event of any of the conditions mentioned below.
This fault relay will de-energize in following conditions :
Any channel sensor is detected open circuited.
Any channel sensor is detected short or the temp. is under-range.
Any channel temp. is detected over-range (above 300 oC).
Power to the controller fails.
o The controller operation will be considered satisfactory and acceptable if,
The temperature displayed over the range 0 to 300 Deg. C is within +/- 2 Deg C. (This
is a calibration check & needs precision equipment like RTD calibrator or standard
decade resistance box.)
The relays should turn on as described above within 1 oC. of above mentioned set
points.*
Notes :
1. As normally only three channels are used for windings, channel no. 4 is provided as deleted in
default settings.
2. It should further be noted that when power to TR-7570 is applied & if any one or more sensor
connections are abnormal (Faulty), the fault relay will first energize and then turn off after the
control circuits become operational. This will lead to momentary operation of this relay when
power is applied.
3. There is a built-in delay of 4 -10 secs in relay operations for Fault/High/V.High/Fan. This is to
avoid nuisance operation of the relays. Therefore, if the temperature constantly stays above the
set point for more than this time period, then only the relay turns on. The same is true for
switching off the relays. This means the relay will turn off after 5-10 secs after the temperature
has fallen below the set level.
