THE PROHIBITION OF PREGNANT

MARRIAGE BY MODIN (CASE STUDY IN


TEMAS VILLAGE, BATU)

ABSTRACT
The pregnant marriage phenomenon caused reactions from various
figures in different places. Like Temas village, one village in Batu
city, had reacted pregnant marriage caused by free sex and
spreading in the village. The reaction is realized through making a
new policy by Modin, a person who has a power to organize agenda
involving on marriage and funeral agenda in the village. The policy is
a realization of Modins response intending to prevent spreading
this phenomenon by prohibiting pregnant marriage in which the
policy prevails until the end of pregnancy. The emerging policy
shows that pregnant marriage has an effect on developing the future
generations. This research explores what is the basic thought of
Modin in creating the policy and how does the policy implement. By
using qualitative field research method, this research concludes that
Modins idea intends to prevent harm (mafsadah) and protect the
purity of lineage in Temas society and implement the policy involving
some participants who contribute to create the success for its
implementation. This research also proves that the policy is capable
to reduce number of pregnant marriage in the village.
