Month one

o Size- quarter inch long


o Neural tube states to form which becomes the
Brain
Spinal Cord
o 22nd day the fetus heart starts to beat
o Lungs and heart start to form

First Trimester
Whats Important for Mom
Take a multivitamin
Month two
o 1 inch in length and less then a 1/3 of a ounce
o Eyelids form but are sealed shut
o Ears, wrist, ankles, toes, and fingers are forming
o Placenta grows and provides baby with food and oxygen through umbilical cord
o Brain, lungs and heart are forming
Month three
o about 2 to 3 inches long and 1 ounce
o can hear the babies heart beat
o fine hairs on babies skin
o 20 buds in the mouth that become teeth
o Finger and toe nails form


Month four
o 6-7 inches in length and 4 to 5 ounces in weight
o Placenta continues to provide food for the baby

Second Trimester
o Skin is pink and transparent
o Baby moves kicks and swallows
Month five
o Baby is about 10 inches in length and to 1 pound in weight
o Baby goes to sleep and wakes up
o Baby can turn side to side and sometimes head over heals
Month six
o 12 inches in length and weighs about 1 to 2 pounds
o Eyes almost completely formed
o Baby can kick strongly now
o Fine hair covers the body
o Skin is red and wrinkled



Month Seven
o 15 to 16 inches in length and weighs 2 to 3 pounds
o Responds to light and sound\
o Kicks and stretches
o Suck thumb
o Open and close eyes

Third Trimester
Month eight
o 18 to 19 inches long and weighs 4 to 5 pounds
o Brain and lungs continue to develop, need 39 weeks in the womb to
fully grow
o Fingernails have grown
o Body growing
o Kick stronger
Month nine
o 19 to 21 inches in length and weighs 6 to 9 pounds
o Lungs ready to work on their own
o Baby gains about a half a pound per week
o Babys starts to be in a head down position
