Reflection about add and subtract mentally:

On Wednesday, March 9, 2016, I taught a lesson about (add and subtract mentally), this was
my fourth lesson. At the beginning of the class, I did an election to let students discover the
title of the lesson. One egg contains the title, and two eggs contain to questions about the
previous lesson. Then I told them a story about adding and subtracting mentally by using the
PPT. The story was about four friends Mohammed, Ahmad, Ali and Abdullah and they
search about the treasure. After that, I gave each student paper, pictures of houses contain the
addition and subtraction question and keys contain the answer. I gave each student different
question about subtraction and addition. The students stick the correct key with a suitable
house on the paper. Then. I asked some students to present their work to check if their
answers right or wrong. After that, I played with them who will when the millions. I put the
question on the PPT, and I gave each pairs paper to write the answers on it. After that, I
walked around the class and checked their answers. I gave the pairs who answer correct
answer one star. Then I used app about addition numbers (Kids Math Game free). At the end
of the class, I asked them to open students book page 42 and do it.

It term of what went well, I think the time management went well because I finished the
lesson at the time. In the engagement, I told them a story, and it took 15 minutes. In the
core, I gave each group paper, pictures of houses contain the addition and subtraction
question and keys contain the answer, and it took 15 minutes. In the close, I played with
them who will win the millions. I put the question on the PPT, and I gave each pairs paper to
write the answers on it. Moreover, I asked students to solve students book page 42, and it
took 15 minutes. In term of what was bad, I didnt use group work and I only used individual
work so next time I will use it to improve the communication skills of students.

My classroom management was good, and I controlled the students. I let students work as
groups and individual. Furthermore, I used eye contact with all pupils. Moreover, on the
board I wrote the name of the groups, I gave 5 points for speed, 10 points for answer
correctly, and 10 points for quiet and organization. I gave a happy face for a group who get
more points. The materials that I used were PPT contains a story, cards contain numbers,
puzzle contains numbers, paper, cone and scoops contain the numbers. The strategy that
works well was positive reinforcement approach. Additionally, I used the countdown
strategy (three, two, one, start).
After I had taught the lesson the students can add and subtract mentally, I knew that when
they solve who will win the million game correctly. They also respond to the students
book correctly.

I am very satisfied with the feedback that my MST gave it for me. I agreed with my MST
when she said, you shouldnt walk around and check students work, you can show them the
answers and let them check their answers by themselves honestly. So next time I will try to
show them and let them check their answers by themselves. Furthermore, I will try to ask
students to check to their partners. Moreover, I felt happy when she said, "I like the houses
and keys activity. In addition, I felt proud when she wrote many strengths about me such as
you able to create educational stories and you able to use various strategies. Next
lessons, I will do my best to do a brilliant lesson. Moreover, I will try to use different
activities that suitable with students need.
