The old and classic Schindlers list and Watchmen, a phenomenal Superhero film

directed by Zach Schneider. The Idea of this two films being compared with each other
and pinpointing the similarities is quite complex. But it all settles down to just one major
idea or criteria of the movie itself that Ive placed my thoughts on. Perspective.
How you perceive someone. How you try to put your mind into their brain and see how
they think, what they are thinking and why they think that way. Kind of like Psychology.
Oskar Schindler was a German industrialist and Nazi member during world war II and of
course if youre a Nazi (or even just German) during the war, People will immediately
accuse you in a number of spectrums that is entirely in bad context; Inquisitors,
Conquerors, Dictators, (and my favorite) Jew-Hater.
Schindler saved 1,200 Jewish lives during the holocaust by employing those people into
his ammunition factories. Transferring them and evidently saving them from inevitable
deaths at Concentration camps. Oskar was no saint though. He did, at times deliver his
hate towards those refugees whenever they would mess up but still. For someone
whose own country was on top and decided that he wants to go against its customs is a
very big risk. No doubt he wouldve been killed if those Nazi officers found out what he
was doing. He was a German and a Nazi member but he saved the lives of his
enemies.
Zach Schneiders version of the Watchmen was exceptional, enlightening and the
directing made it an overall masterpiece. He showed how there are two sides to every
coin. Focusing on portraying the perspective of the Vigilantes themselves.
We all know Real life superheroes are a non-sense But what if somehow someone
gained super powers? Or someone amazingly skilled at martial arts decided to go out
and stop crime? It sounds good of course but what would happen to those crime-
fighters after years of service. Decades of stopping crime, beating up bad guys,
making hard decisions, having people close to you get killed, eventually having to kill
someone.
Near the end of the movie. Ozymandias the superhero turned supervillain, realized that
earths internal turmoil will eventually lead to nuclear war. He devised a plan to save the
earth from itself by giving all of its people one common enemy so that they will all join
forces to defeat this one great adversary. He made a machine that imitates an energy
blast of his former fellow superhero Dr. Manhattan and used it to kill millions of lives,
framing his friend. The death toll was so massive that everyone dropped whatever they
were doing and stood in awe of what they thought was Dr. Manhattans handiwork.
Ozymandias was then confronted by the Watchmen his former colleagues but the
superheroes were too late to do anything at that point. The supervillains plan worked.
Governments began creating alliances, putting their differences aside. They could only
go along with it. Until Rorschach having a strong sense of justice. Pointed out that
tricking people, regardless if its for their own safety is not how they do things. He went
off to tell everyone what really happened but was eventually killed by his superhero
friends.
Would you still call the Watchmen superheroes for going along with Ozymandias plan?
Would you still look down on Oskar for being a Nazi? Judging them by their actions is
no easy task. They were doing bad stuff but for the right reasons. Kind of like Robin
Hood. It all just falls down to their convictions.
Another good and obvious comparison is between the two films is that theyre both
fighting for good. Oskar Schindler was smuggling Jewish people out of Concentration
camps while the Watchmen as any good superhero would do, save lives and fight bad
guys.
A good differentiation of this movie is how they saved peoples lives. Whereas in
Schindlers list, he saved thousands of peoples lives by doing what is right but
Watchmen on the other hand. Saved Billions of lives (and the earth) by killing millions.
Deceit is how the Watchmen kept the people safe.
Another thing is The Schindlers List is actually based on a true story of Oskar
Schindler. While the Watchmen was purely of comics origin but what really makes my
mind tick is how scary realistic the movies were. Like the circumstances in the
Watchmen could really happen in real life.
Ive heard this quote once about specific views on things, You know two people can
look at the exact same thing and see something totally different
So dont be bias. Remember two sides to every coin. Try to go deeper, learn even the
minor details to any given situation. Because lets face it, you dont really know whats
up
