Procedure Summary This SOP outlines the steps for setting up and collecting data from
an ISCO 2500 temporary meter.
Performed By Interceptor Service Workers and Engineering (Technical Services)
staff.
Materials
Pick(s) and/or shovel (for removing manhole cover)
Laptop
Communications cable
6 volt batteries (at least 2)
Safety Additional time may be required to plan traffic control. Plan accord
ingly if work is to be done in or near a street.
PPE
All PPE required by the Interceptor Services Work Rules
Gloves

d. Plug the other end of the communications cable into the connector port on the temporary meter.
2. Open Flowlink.
Note: Use the screenshot above as a guide for making the appropriate selections for Type,
COM port, and Baud rate.
c. In the Site Name box, type in the site name in this format: INT_MH#.
INT: Interceptor
MH#: Manhole number
d. Click ok.
3. Set the flow rate measurement.
a. Click Jump to measurement tab and select Flow Rate from the dropdown menu.
c. Repeat substep 6a twice or until the level measurement is within 1/10th of an inch.
d. Click Set Up Data Storage.
e. Set up data storage just as in Steps 3 and 4.
Repeat this step to complete the data storage sections for Velocity Ratio and Velocity
Spectrum.
a. Click Jump to measurements tab and select Velocity Signal from the dropdown menu.
b. Click Set up data storage button.
Note: Do not select a secondary storage for Velocity Signal, Velocity Ratio, and Velocity
Spectrum.
Note: If the Input Volts measurement falls below 10 volts, change the batteries in the temporary
meter.
a. Click Disconnect.
b. Disconnect the communications cable from the computer and the meter.
c. Put the black connector cover on the communications port.
3. Open Flowlink.
a. Click the Flowlink icon to open the program.

c. If a 5100 error appears, make sure the communications cable is properly plugged into the tempo
rary meter and the laptop.
If Then

teries, if needed.
d. If the measurement falls below 10 volts, change the batteries in the temporary meter.
b. Disconnect the communications cable from the computer and the meter.
d. Secure the temporary meter back in the manhole and replace the manhole cover.
