Summary: Despite the tumor-shrinking medical miracle that has
bought her a few years, Hazel has never been anything but terminal, her final chapter inscribed upon diagnosis. But when a gorgeous plot twist named Augustus Waters suddenly appears at Cancer Kid Support Group, Hazel's story is about to be completely rewritten.
ELA Common Core State Standard: RL.6.3 Describe how a
particular story's or drama's plot unfolds in a series of episodes as well as how the characters respond or change as the plot moves toward a resolution.
Instructional Use: The main character in this book goes through
a lot of life changes. The students could get into groups and pick one event that the character goes through. Then they will write down how she responds/changes to that event. Once the students are done we will put them in order of events and compare/discuss how she grew as a person.
