PRODUCT PROFILE
Our market research reveals that need of ductile iron manhole covers, gratings
and graded castings have increased incredibly in constructions, telecommunications,
automobiles, valve industries and engineering casting industries. Ductile iron
castings are widely accepted by the developed and developing countries.

The foundry is well equipped to produce and supply ductile iron and grey iron
manhole covers, gratings and graded castings as per domestic and international
standards, weight of casting up to 1500 kgs., in any size and shape can be
produced in any required metal composition through induction melting process
and precisely checked by Ferro Lab Analyzer for carbon silicon and other
elements by Spectrometer. Patterns, Core boxes for the same may be developed
in-house.

DUCTILE IRON
WHAT IS DUCTILE IRON
Spheroidal graphite or ductile iron is a unique form of iron which, prior to the metal casting process, receives
special treatment with magnesium to produce and exceptionally strong, impact resistant and durable metal
providing a safer, high performance solution for road castings.
The micro structure of conventional grey iron of thin "flakes" of graphite results in low tensile strength and
poor resistance to localised impact.
The addition of magnesium at the molten stage transforms these thin "flakes" of graphite and disperses
them in spheroidal form, providing high tensile strength at least twice that of grey iron and improved
strength to weight rations.

Standard Classification
The appropriate class of manhole cover to be used depends upon the place of installation. The various places
of installation have been divided into groups numbered 1 to 6, listed below. A guide as to which class of
manhole cover should be used is shown in parentheses for each group. The selection of the appropriate
class is the responsibility of the designer. Where there is any doubt, the stronger class should be selected.

Group 1 (Class A15) : Areas which can only Group 4 (Class D 400) : Carriageways of roads
be used by pedestrians and pedal cyclists. (including pedestrian streets), hard shoulders and parking
areas, for all types of road vehicles.

Group 2 (Class B125) : Footways, pedestrian areas and

comparable areas, car parks or car parking decks.
Group 5 (Class E 600) : Areas imposing high
wheel loads, e.g. docks, aircraft pavements.

Group 3 (Class C 250) : For gully tops installed in the

area of kerbside channels of roads which when Group 6 (Class F 900) : Areas imposing particularly high
measured from the kerb edge, extend a maximum of wheel loads, e.g aircraft pavements.
0.5 m into the carriageway and a maximum of 0.2 m
into the footway.
