ABSTRAKSI

Studi ini membahas tentang identitas hibrid suku Talang Mamak. Pertama,
akan bercerita mengenai ruang, agen, dan relasi apakah yang terbentuk
dalam rekontruksi identitas. Ketiga hal tersebut akan bekerja dalam
kerangka pikir milik Peter Berger. Kemudian, relasi sosial seperti apakah
yang terbentuk antara dua kelompok suku Talang Mamak dan Melayu
pendatang. Serta bagaimana bentuk-bentuk relasi ini berkontribusi dalam
rekontruksi identitas. Dari hasil rekontruksi identitas ini, maka identitas
hibrid seperti apa yang akan terbentuk. Rekontruksi identitas dibangun
dengan beberapa tahapan dalam penelitian ini, yang dilihat melalui
kerangka pikir Peter Berger yang menyatakan tiga proses yaitu
eksternalisasi, obyektifikasi, dan internalisasi. Di dalam proses rekontruksi
identitas terdapat sebuah proses mimikri menurut Homi Bhaba, dimana
suku Talang Mamak menggunakan topeng dan peniruan sebagai upaya
pengkuan nilai-nilai lokal dari suku Melayu. Karena proses tersebut terjadi
secara berulang, membuat batasan-batasan mulai bergeser menjadi
penyatuan yang melahirkan sebuah identitas hibrid bagi suku Talang
Mamak. Lahirnya identitas hibrid suku Talang Mamak tersebut menjadikan
sebuah hubungan yang bersifat harmonis antara suku Talang Mamak dan
Melayu menurut Bowers yang dituangkan dalam sepuluh poin relasi
keharmonisan.

 ABSTRACT

Concern on this study is about Talang Mamak ethnic with their hybrid
identity. First, about what space, agent, and relation was built on identity
reconstruction. Those three things will be based on Peter Barger work
frame. Then, what is social relation was constructed between two groups
of Talang Mamak ethnic and comer Melayu ethnic. Also how these
relations path are contributed on identity reconstruction. As the result of
the identity reconstruction, what kind of Hybrid Identity to be create?, on
this research Identity reconstruction was built on several steps, on Peter
Berger framework of thinking there are three process which are
Externalization, Objectification, and Internalization. Under the
reconstruction identity process there is a process called mimikri
according to Homi Bhaba, where Talang Mamak ethnic use face mask and
replication as attempt to recognize local culture of Melayu ethnic. Since
the process was recurrence, therefore borders of divide transform become
unification which is generate hybrid identity for Talang Mamak ethnic.
Born of this hybrid identity transform to the harmony relation between
Talang Mamak ethnic and melayu according to Bowers that poured on ten
of Harmony Relation.
