Abstract
This article presents the factors identified by the medical students that
affect the quality of the knowledge received during their academic training.
Among these factors: personal, material resources and the ones related to
the professor. This study is performed in order to identify such factors and to
improve the methods of knowledge gaining. Design: Observational,
transverse study. Non-probability sampling was used for assessments. A
questionnaire was applied. Setting: Faculty of Medical Sciences, National
Autonomous University of Honduras. Participants: Medical students from
fifth to eighth year. Results: 52.1% medical students were in eighth year
from which, 79.2% referred needing reinforcement in Pharmacology and a
56.3% in Gross Anatomy. 79.2% would like to receive mentoring in basic and
advanced CPR and 72.9% in neonatal CPR. 95.9% indicated that no-
satisfactory courses influenced their knowledge deficit. The 89.8% of the
medical students recommended to encourage teachers training in
pedagogics. Conclusion: Eighth year medical students refer low educational
performance in Pharmacology because of the unsatisfactory teaching
received therefore, recommending the promotion of capacity building in
pedagogics for educators.
INTRODUCCIN
El rendimiento acadmico es la capacidad de respuesta que tiene un
individuo a estmulos, objetivos y propsitos educativos previamente
establecidos. Tambien es la expresin, que permite conocer la existencia de
calidad en la educacin a cualquier nivel. Un rendimiento acadmico bajo,
significa que el estudiante no ha tenido adquisicin de

alumnos de quinto ao de
medicina.
En el Grfico V, las
recomendaciones que se incluyen
para fortalecer el aprendizaje son
las siguientes: mejorar la forma en
que el docente transmite la
informacin por medio de
capacitaciones pedaggicas
89.8%, y un 79.6% mayor
interaccin docente-estudiante. Es
importante sealar algunas otras
