Team Jesus Update!!!

Hello, everyone!!!!!

The very first thing I want to say isI AM SOOOO SORRY for not sending an update sooner!!! Wow,
this first school year has been a whirlwind to say the least!! The days fly by so quickly, and by the
time our breaks come around, I have so much personal stuff to catch up on plus having Bible studies
with folks I meet. Then school starts again. Not an excusejust letting you all know that I am sorry!

The second thing I want to say is that I am soooooo very grateful for my supporters. My partners.
Your financial sacrifice is such a blessing to me and everyone Im able to touch by being here at
Sunset International Bible Institute (which is the school that is inside the Sunset church of Christ
building). Thank you to all who pray for me as well. Thank you to all who write me and encourage
me. I still cant believe Im here. I wouldnt want to be anywhere else. Words cant express how
blessed I am to be here and for this training for Kingdom work. Gods Word is transformational!!! I
want to be the best soldier I can be for Him!!!

Since I have so much I want to include in this newsletter, which would probably be overwhelming to
you, Im going to title each section so you can cheat and pick out the topics youre interested in!
Youre welcome! As Ive mentioned, I have been diagnosed with A.D.D., so I thoroughly appreciate
headings!! You just may enjoy them too!! If not, dont tell me! Im just gonna roll with the
assumption you did! Here we go!!!

Background

God has used the last decade to groom me for ministry. How did He do that? Real Estate! Who would
have ever thought I had already been in ministry training even before I decided to give my life to
God?! Not this girl!! Real Estate has taught me about people and relationships, being a problem
solver, multi-tasking, good decision-making, good communication, being self-managed, and so much
more. He blessed my career and still is blessing through my (former) business partner, Pam, who
took over our business when I found out about the opportunity here at SIBI. Pam is now mentoring
my mother who recently got in the business! Isnt God amazing?!

So, I moved to Lubbock, TX on July 18, 2016 and havent looked back. I get to study Gods Word full-
time while being surrounded by seasoned, strong Christians. It is the most loving and encouraging
and safe environment Ive ever been in. It will be hard to leave. Sunset is life-changing to say the
least. It will be unforgettable.
School/Training

As many of you already know, I have extended the schooling from two years to three years. As I was
not raised in a Christian home, my exposure to Biblical knowledge has been minimal. Not only is the
program accelerated, but my lack of foundation has been a little more challenging. The second
challenge was the limitations that come with having A.D.D. I have decided I do not want to take
medication, so my counselor and I work on natural methods and techniques to allow me to do the
best with what Im able to do. Ive had some success in some recent techniques weve tried. It was a
huge relief!! Ive been able to accomplish a little more with a little less pain! Yay!!!!

Lord willing, I will graduate in May of 2019 with a Bachelors in Biblical Studies. What then?, you
ask. God hasnt emailed me the plan yet! He likes to surprise me! Youll know when I know!
Whatever it is, it will be sharing the gospel with every person that will hear me!! My spiritual gift has
been determined. Evangelism for sure!! No doubt!! Since Im single at this point (maybe
permanently) with no kids, I am very mobile. Ive been getting rid of many of my belongings to
lighten my load and responsibilities to be even more mobile. I continue to press myself to live with
less stuff. Its a freeing feeling!! I dont want to be a prisoner to my things. And, technically theyre
Gods things anyway. I get to use them while Im here on earth. Anyway, the point is, well have to
stay tuned in to see where Gods gonna put me!! Its a nail-biter!! Haha!!

Atmosphere

I mentioned SIBI being life-changing. There are some things that I will never forget about my time
here. We start every day off with Chapel. Its a time of prayer, singing, and a message from a
different preacher, speaker, or missionary. We pray as a class before every class...often a second
time after the break. We (including the instructors) sometimes sing hymns to our God in four-part
harmony while getting our materials set up before our prayer. We hug each other and hold hands
just to comfort each other and to say, I love you. It is so amazing to be in a building full of faculty,
staff, and students who all rely on supporters in order to be able to continue their role at SIBI. We all
have the same goalone goalsharing the gospel to win as many souls as possible. The place is
FILLED with love. Godly love. You can feel it everywhere you go. Walking down the hall sometimes I
cry.I still cant believe I get to be here. Its not the building, but its the hearts in it. Sunset has
missionaries in so many parts of the world who are sharing the gospel, planting churches, and
creating disciples who are creating disciples. Go to our website (www.sibi.cc) and check out our Solar
Players!! They are such a vital part of reaching more people AND in their own language all over the
world!!! Theyre a game-changer!! I believe at this point we have over 70 schools on 4 continents!!
Wow!! I cant wait to see more of this world and what Gods soldiers are doing!!!

Classes

Im going to test my memory here (if I fail at this, youll never know, and Ill never tell! Haha!) and
list the classes Ive had so far. (Deep breath indeep exhale...okgo!) Spiritual disciplines,
Apologetics, Luke, Old Testament History 1 & 2, Public Speaking 1-4, Gracious Hospitality, Epistles of
John, The Christian Home, New Testament Greek, The Scheme of Redemption, Church History,
Evangelism 1 & 2, Biblical Theology of Missions, The Book of Acts. I am still deciding which classes Ill
be taking In August/September which is the first term of the second year. I know one will be Public
Speaking 5. Some of the other options are The Levitical Sacrificial System, Ephesians/Colossians, The
Minor Prophets, and 1st & 2nd Peter/James. Ill have to think on it over the summer. Ill take them all
eventually anyway, but its hard to decide!! Theyre all so good!! Ill be memorizing scriptures over
the summer as well. We always have several to memorize each term. Its a great habit to get into. It
really becomes a part of us when we memorize them. It allows me to have a deeper understanding
of them. Amazing how it happens.

Soul-Winning/Results

My goal just about every day is to meet new folks, start a relationship with them, and get to point
that they would be open to studying the scriptures with me. I guide them through the scriptures to
show them that we have a sin problem that separates us from God unless and until we accept Christ.
Since I have arrived in Texas several months ago, three of the people I studied with have accepted
Christ and repented!! There were also a few close friends and a family member who live in
Pennsylvania that have done the same!! Glory to God!!!

I also study with folks who already love Jesus and enjoy reading scriptures!! Im excited to spend
time in Pennsylvania, but now Texas is also my home, and Ill miss my friends and brothers and
sisters in Christ!!

Please pray for God to send me more folks who need and are searching for the unfailing love of
Christ. Ill always make myself available for the chance to win a soul for the Kingdom of God!!!

Prayer requests

As much as I love it here and love learning Gods living Word, it is extremely demanding and taxing.
This experience is spiritual boot camp. We are stretched to the limit daily. Please pray that the
natural methods I use to overcome my challenges with A.D.D. continue to work. Please pray that I
can continue to take care of myself physically so I can be well to press through the spiritual and
intellectual challenges. Please pray that I continue to become more Christ-like each day so I can be
the person this world needs me to be to win as many souls as possible for the Lord. Please pray the
same for my classmates, my brothers and sisters in Christ. Please pray for those who are supporting
us to be here. Pray that God continues to bless them. Please pray for more workers to come down
here to be trained for Kingdom work.

Top-Secret Section

Just kidding!!! Come on now!!! I dont have secrets!!!! And if I did, I wouldnt be putting them in my
newsletter for all to read, Silly!!!!

GoFundMe

This section is really about the GoFundMe video you probably have received (if I have your email or
cell number, or if youre on Facebook, you would have received it through Messenger).

My plan this summer is to travel a great portion of the United States and get face-to-face with some
people to visit, to encourage, to be encouraged, and to share Gods Word. Im calling it my
Evangelistic Excursion! Im super excited! I should be hitting the road May 23rd. Yikes! Lots to do
before then! The trip will be through New Mexico and Arizona to California, then through Nevada and
Utah to Colorado, then to Illinois and Indiana, then to Ohio and then to the Pittsburgh area in
Pennsylvania (where Im from), which is where Ill spend the bulk of my time. On my way back to
Texas, Ill travel down through the Virginias to Georgia then over through Alabama to Louisiana and
back to Texas! Whew!! What was I thinking!? Haha!

I am super excited for this journey. It will be a lot of reflective time with God, and I plan to have a
great deal of scriptures memorized hopefully!! The total trip mileage will be roughly 7,500 miles (not
including the mileage in Pennsylvania for those 6 weeks). The estimated fuel cost, plus a little
padding for a flat or other potential issues, is $1,650. Since I am a single woman traveling alone, I
will be staying with folks at each stop, so I wont be driving at night. Plus, there really wont be any
cost for hotels, unless of course a situation arises.

Im also going to try to take some video and document my travels as much as I can! There will be a
lot going on, so I will try my very best to do so, but without compromising my face-to-face time with
those folks whove agreed to put up with me as I roll through their area!

My question is if you would like the opportunity to partner with me on this journey? I currently do not
have the funds to make this trip, but Im going regardless, trusting God to open the hearts of those
receiving this, that they would bless these efforts by contributing to the cost for fuel. Any amount will
be a blessing and will allow me to safely and comfortably proceed. Wont you please partner with me
on this journey? It will have eternal rewards.

Pledged Partnership

There are several folks who have pledged a monthly contribution for me to be here. I am so thankful
for their sacrifices. Unfortunately, some of that monthly support has gone down due to some
unforeseen circumstances, so I am in need of monthly support as well. SIBI has been helping me
each month, but it is a temporary fix as other students, especially the incoming level one students,
are in need, and we need them here!! My goal is to find willing and able hearts to collectively fill in
the gap of $400 per month. Again, any amount is a true blessing and would lessen the amount
needed. If you have questions about this, please dont hesitate to ask me!!

And, keep in mind these contributions might be tax deductible, so check with your accountant if you
want to know!!

Again, I thank you all for your encouragement, love, support, and prayers!!!! It has meant so much
to me!!! Even though I love it here, it is a challenge being in a completely new environment as a
single woman. I am pretty tough and resourceful, but it is still challenging nonetheless, so I thank
you for being a part of my life!!!! If you would like to see any certain topics in my future newsletters,
please let me know!!! There is so much to tell about, its hard to pick!!! Help me by telling me what
you wanna know about!!!

Please tell me how I can pray for you, so I can write it in my prayer book and pray for it regularly.
Please, please, please stay in touch. I wanna hear from you. I wanna get random texts from you. I
wanna know about your world. All of you.

Love you all!!!! Be blessed!!!! Enjoy the summer!!!! I hope to see many of you soon!!!! Team
Jesus!!!!
