Artist Statement

Alexus Burkhead is a very rare person that you can come across in the world. Alexus can

be very kind, smart, noble person when she wants to be. Not only is Alexus about to graduate

from Whiteland High School she is also going to be attending IUPUI in the fall to pursue her

education. In 2015, Alexus got nominated by her favorite art teacher Mrs. Mitscher to attend the

IUPUI art show; which showcased her Goldfish Gilbert Cooper. Alexus did not get any awards,

but she did get the honor to be there at that every special achievement in her life. Alexus plans on

keeping art as her hobby as the years go bye. As an artist Alexus has done multiple project that

she still has on displayed in her house. Her most important piece is her Goldfish Gilbert Cooper

just because it out picked to go to another school for an art show. Alexus loves art and loves to

display them so that everybody can see them.

As an Artist the one thing that inspires Alexus is her audience. She loves to express

herself through art and make people feel how she is feeling. When she feels something that is

very important to her life she shows it through art. For example, when she made her Goldfish

Gilbert Cooper she was thinking of how she adores her fish Gilbert Cooper at home. Gilbert

Cooper means the world to her and by making a ceramic piece to represent her feelings of her

love for it meant something to her. Alexus is very inspired by the way her feelings can change

how people see her art. She will be expressing her feelings more often through art as live takes

her on an adventure through life.
