Methods: This research is an experimental study. Unit of replication used are 20 male wistar
rats (Rattus norvegicus L.) which divided into 4 groups. The treatment group (P) induced
with dyslipidemia for 21 days and traditional medicinal potion of NTB with a dose of 3.75
ml/day for 14 days. Positive control group 1 (K1) induced with dyslipidemia for 3 weeks
without treatment, the positive control group 2 (K2) induced with dyslipidemia and given
simvastatin therapy at a dose of 1.25 mg/day for 14 days and the negative control group (K)
is given only concentrated feed. At the end of week 5, intra-cardiac blood samples were
taken, total cholesterol and triglycerides were examined. Data were analyzed using
parametric statistical Kruskal Wallis test.
Result: LDL cholesterol levels in the control group K- (15.25 4.50 mg/dL ), K1 control
group (12.5 4.1 mg/dL), K2 group (10.6 3.6 mg/dL), and P treatment group (17 5
mg/dL). The results of statistical test of Kruskal Wallis obtained significant value of p>0.05,
which means there are no significant differences between the group.
Conclusion: The traditional medicinal potion of NTB made by decoction of bay leaves, roots
of blady grass, sambiloto leaves, and gotu kola did not significantly affect LDL cholesterol
level of white rats (Rattus norvegicus L.) induced hypercholesterolemia.
