From The Secretarys Desk

Daniel Somerfield

Hello my friends,

I am feeling very philosophical today so prepare for some very insightful

thoughts. As we progress to the conclusion of another year and subsequently,
the beginning of a new one, I cant help but to reflect on the real purpose of our
existence. I think it is vital that we stop every now and then and look at what we
have accomplished. It is very easy to constantly look forward and see what we
want to do, what we need to buy and what we havent done yet. This practice
has the dangerous potential to cause a continuous feeling of unfulfillment, as
there will always be things we are yet to achieve. I think it is very beneficial to
stop and appreciate what you have done, take heed in what you have learnt and
be proud of the good times that have been shared. Those are the moments that
enrich your life. So before you make that jump into the new year, please do a
few things for your most humble secretary.
1. Think of a time where you achieved.
2. Consider an instance where you overcame an obstacle.
3. Remember a moment when you gave to someone else. Gave a smile. Gave
time. Gave advice. Gave a helping hand or a thoughtful shoulder. Gave hope.
I guarantee you my friends, if you can recall moments like these, then you
should feel happy and confident to face the new year. The world needs more
people like you to shine a light over all that is dark.
I wish you all a happy, safe and enjoyable Christmas and a tremendous and
bountiful new year.

Dan
Pageant of Lights Tracy Patterson
Once again we entered the pageant of
lights, we had the delight of decorating
Robs boat and Jordans boat, I was
really impressed with the amount of
lights that we were able to scrounge up
and wrap around the boats, they looked
fantastic this year. We seem to be
getting better at it every year, one year
we might even win best lights.

We had Sam, Austin, Terri, Maree and

Don in Robs boat, with Helen
navigating Rob through the crowded
streets and in Jordans Boat we had
Hayley, Nikki, Beau and I, with Perry in the cockpit helping Jordan navigate the streets and people.

Once we were fitted out with our lights and glow sticks, we waited patiently to join the precession;
we were number 49 on the list. Not even an impending storm was dampening our excitement to get
in amongst it all.

Once we were away we waved and sang Merry

Fishmas to all and anyone that cared to look our
way, we had a great response from everyone and
even some would sing Merry Fishmas back to us,
and let me tell you by the end of the night we
even had Beau saying Merry Fishmas, at first he
was a bit (I use that loosely) embarrassed, but I
say if you cant hide from them, join them..and
he did

At the end of the night as we were packing up,

one young girl came to us and said you were the
best, well I thought so anyway. That makes it all
worth while.

Now that we are getting the lights down pat for the boats, I would really love to see more members
sitting in the boats with us next year and join in the fun of the evening.

I cant wait to have Bella, Parker, Austin and his new little brother in the boat with us next year, their
faces I cant wait to see with all the lights.

Hayley and Austin really enjoyed themselves.

Next year, if there are members in the crowd that dont want to
be in the boat with us, I am going to try and arrange them to
stand near the food stalls, so we can get some yummy food
handed to us as we drive past it all. Nikki and I tried to do a
drive past order, but all the store holders thought we were just
joking and just waved to us.

We were serious Guys

I think its a fun night and hope that we can match that or do better next year.

Tracy

Mental note to self:

Dont sit too close to the generator next year, I couldnt tell if it was the fumes or the loud singing
that made me cough and my voice croaky.
