Classism

In this topic Classism has caused many effects in everyday life by a persons health ,

relationship , and financial hardship.

Classism and Health issues is one of the main conflicts people tend to struggle with for

example : Men and women being in poverty as they recounted the experiences of their daily

lives (Appio). In this first article this quote is explaining about how they feel in their daily lives

being in poverty and how its hard not being able to have the funds for their every need. In my

opinion I think its very hard to get out of poverty and I think it affects peoples relationship and

happiness. In The Outsiders this connects by Ponyboy and his family being poor and his

relationships towards his brothers throughout the book their relationships with each other

change.

This article talks about the eligibility of the poor people for Medicaid in Maine. (

Thomas R ). This article is meaning people who have low income are eligible to have insurance

for their health. I quite think this is a good idea because people who cant afford private

insurance have an option to get Medicaid which is completely free to cover their health and

Medical bills. This connects to The Outsiders by Ponyboy being in a fire and having to go to

the hospital and having insurance covering his medical bill.

Relationships and Racism affects society and has been for the past centuries although

this has been a major conflict in todays society . For example In this article people are upset

because an African American man named Freddie Gray was killed by police men and people are

starting riots because they think Gray didnt do anything to be murdered which is now causing

discrimination.( Vinnie).

I feel there could of been another option instead of killing the victim. In The Outsiders this

relates by a boy named Dally robbed a corner store and he is on the run but as soon as he could

get with the rest of his gang , police shoot him multiple times until he is dead.

Racism , classism , and relationships back then. ( Allen , David W. ) In this article it talks about

relationships towards the upper class and low medium class how they treated each other but back then it

was more complex. I think back then things were a lot different and there was still discrimination going

on. In The Outsiders this connects with the two gangs the Socs and the Greasers because they both have a

bad relationship with each other and due to their class differences they dont get along.

In conclusion , classism affects many conflicts and relationships with oneself and

towards others as well. In my opinion I think classism is a big conflict with people because of

poverty and how certain people in poverty are having problems with their daily lifestyle causing

them to have anxiety and feeling pressured with certain situations , as of this classism is

comparing money to people who are in poverty and others being judgemental and racist due to

peoples lifestyle of their living.
