      INTRODUCTION

      "Hope your tongue is in right shape. Did you find it difficult to read? Of course you will since it is a tongue twister. Tongue twisters are usually a set of words arranged in a particular way so as to make the movement of tongue, jaws and lips, making it difficult to read. Tongue twisters when read swiftly might end up in mispronunciations, confusions and mistakes by the speaker which will make the listeners giggle. It is most effective when you try to read as quickly as possible without stopping in between words. Most tongue twisters contain words that have similar but different phonemes. Tongue twisters become more attractive when alliterations and rhymes are included. They are said to be tough having words that makes repositioning of the tongues tougher between the words. You can find the twisters in almost every language.

      Tongue twisters are not meant just for toddlers, but for grownups too. Beside the fun side, they are of great help to improve your pronunciation and fluency over the language. Also it acts as an exercise for the tongue. Speech therapists use tongue twisters for speech therapy. They use tongue twisters as a tool to clear the sound of the patient. It also helps to stimulate the nerves of the brain that deal with the speech. We might find it difficult for the first time when you read. But to some it is not the case. They can read very easily because they have better control over the tongue muscles. We find it difficult for the first time, because we are not used to it. When you exercise regularly and gets familiar with such phrases, you will become an expert. As a starter, you can listen to tongue twisters. By doing so, automatically we develop the tendency to follow the words in our mind and encourages tongue muscles to act accordingly. After all tongue twisters are fun and an exercise to you.
