Brainstorm Activity: AnswerGarden
QR Scanner on iphone or portable device
- Students will access the AnswerGarden using the
QR code on step 2 of the lesson 2 word document. AnswerGarden
They will need the QR code application.
- Students will answer the following question, What
comes to mind when we say the term sugar? (type

Teacher will then explain the purpose of the


AnswerGarden: The most frequent answer is portrayed in a

ideas surrounding a particular topic.

Class discussion: What actually is sugar?


Teacher will introduce students to sugar and why it may be
considered as bad for us.

- Sugar had little nutritional value and does not

- Sugar contains a lot of energy. If we dont use up
this energy, it will be stored as fat. (lead to obesity, Padlet
weight gain etc)

up the Sugar Fact sheet.
- Students will be asked to use that fact sheet to
locate the amount of sugar that is located in 4 or 5
of their favourite snack foods and drinks.

Teacher will ask the students to share some of their findings

Lesson Closure:

Teacher will invite students to share what they found


interesting or complex. Teacher will also check for
understanding on the basic teaching principles.
Students will pack away equipment.

Transition:
Students can access the Padlet document to review what
they have learned in todays lesson and even view the
information planned for the next class.
If students havent completed their Slidley, they need to
have completed it be the next lesson.

Assessment: (Were the lesson objectives met? How will


these be judged?)

The objectives of the class will be judged through the


successful completion of the Slidely project and through
some class discussion.
