MATERIALS
Worsted to Aran-weight yarn: Shown in Vannas Choice Purple and Linen
Tapestry needle
4 Stitch Markers
sk2pSlip next st knit-ways, k2tog, and then slip the stitch over (double decrease)
kyokKnit next stitch and without dropping the loop off the left needle, yo, then knit the loop. Double
increase in one stitch.
There are four sets of petals. Two petals will be on each needle. The corner stitch for each side is the
last stitch on the needle. There will be yo increases on either side of it on alternate rounds, throughout.
There are yo increases next to the leaves for the first half of the leaf, then only on the corner sides after
that. Even though the total number of stitches decreases from time to time, the work lays flat because
the leaves pouf up
SizingAn average knitter will achieve approximately a 9 block with the given instructions. If you are
working with worsted weight yarn, and size 4 mm (US 6) needles, you will need several additional
rounds to make a block of that size. If you work with 5 mm (US 7) needles, the block will likely approach
10 if you are working with Vannas Choice or similar aran-weight yarn. If you are a tight knitter, you will
need more rounds at the end, or use a larger needle than recommended.
Joining new coloursLoosely knot the colours together, and when finished, undo the knot and weave
the ends in, leaving the yarns twisted around one another.

CROCHET OPTION
BO loosely in purl, and work invisible join for last st. Work a round of dc in BLO of purl bind off. Decrease
at regular intervals as follows: Join sl st to any corner BLO, ch-3 as dc, in same st, (dc, ch-2, 2 dc), then
[dc in next 3 BLO, dec dc, dc in next 4 BLO, dec dc, dc in next 5 BLO, dec dc, dc in next 4 BLO, dec dc, dc
in next 3 BLO , work corner in BLO of next stitch (2 dc, ch-2, 2 dc)] x 3, then work to * only, and finish
with invisible join. Alternately work air crochet start and finish for this round.
KNITTING OPTION
Work additional rounds of purl alternating with knit as follows:
Continue as desired, repeating RNDS 30 and 31, and adding an additional 2 stitches each second row.
When desired size is reached, bind off in purl after a RND 31.
FINISHING
It is worth your time to neatly work in the first end, mimicking the stitches already in place by working a
loop of stitching to close the end, from the front, then pulling the end through the back, and weaving in
carefully so as to not disturb the evenness of the circle.
Similarly, neatly undo all knots for the first loop, and weave these ends in, leaving the first twist in place
to prevent a hole.
