PREFACE
Academic and social emphasis on early education in recent years has occasioned an
unprecedented awareness of the need for a skilled and systemic approach towards teaching
learning process. At The Indian Heights School "we facilitate the exploration and
understanding of our unique and shared cultural features as human beings.
The curriculum for the tiny tots has been carefully designed with the aim at developing the
innate potential of each child by providing holistic teaching environment, which encourages
children to acquire knowledge, gain self control and develop self independence through concrete
and meaningful experiences. The lil ones in Step-II are constantly and continuously observed
and the parents are updated about the performance and learning skills from time to time in the
Parent Teacher Interaction which are conducted on a regular basis. Our curriculum is well
planned and aims at the emotional, cognitive, social and physical well being of each child. We
acknowledge the role of the parents participating in the growth of their ward hand in hand with
the school.
The month wise detailed syllabus is brought in the following pages to give an insight to each and
every parent of The Indian Heights family as to how their lil ones will learn to make connections
between their previous, current and new perceptions.

RHYMES AND STORIES
KITES
Five little kites flying high in the sky ALL BY MYSELF
In my mirror, I can see
Said, "Hi" to the cloud as it passed by, Two little eyes , That look at me.
Said, "Hi" to the bird, said "Hi" to the sun, Two little ears, One little nose
Said, "Hi" to an airplane--oh what fun! Ten little fingers ,Ten little toes.
Then whish went the wind, One little mouth,I open wide
And they all took a dive: Two little rows,of teeth, inside.
A tongue that pops, both in and out,
One, two, three, four, five. Lots of joints,That bend about.
Muscles and bones,That do most things.
All held together ,With my skin.

TEACHERS
("Mary Had a Little Lamb" tune)
KOOKABURRA Our teacher comes to school each day,
Kookaburra sits in the old gum tree; School each day, school each day.
Merry , merry king of the bush is he. Our teacher comes to school each day,
Laugh, Kookaburra! Laugh, Kookaburra! To help us learn and grow.
Gay your life must be. She smiles and helps us learn all day,
Kookaburra sits on the old gum tree; Learn all day, learn all day.
Eating all the gum drops he can see. She smiles and helps us learn all day.
Stop, Kookaburra! Stop, Kookaburra! We're glad we come to school.
Leave some there for me.
Kookaburra sits on the old gum tree,
Counting all the monkeys he can see.
Wait, Kookaburra! Stop, Kookaburra! Lots of fruits we must eat,
Thats not a monkey! Thats me! Less of chocolates,
And less of sweets,
Fruits make you strong,
They make you live long,
They give you energy to play,
That will last all the day

[32]

Parenting is an easy job. It requires patience, care and discipline.

Positive Parenting Tips

Continue to read to your child. Nurture their love for books by taking them to the library
or bookstore.
Encourage your child to play with other children. This helps him to learn the value of
sharing and friendship.
Be clear and consistent when disciplining your child. Explain and show the behavior that
you expect from her.
Help your child develop good language skills by speaking to him in complete sentences
and using "grown up" words.
Give your child a limited number of simple choices (for eg. deciding what to wear, when
to play, and what to eat)

QUOTABLE QUOTES
The best way to make children good is to make them happy. Oscar Wilde

Parents need to fill a child's bucket of self-esteem so high that the rest of the world can't
poke enough holes to drain it dry. Alvin Price
