In today's class, we decided to go with Advertising, since both of us are interesting in it. Above
all, from the basic knowledges that we all know about it has influenced us in curiousing and
questioning how advertise could relate, affect the economy and the consumers behaviors. In
addition, advertising is an action that to leverage the consumers on products, which mostly it
occurs on social media, street banners, broadcasting and through some videos or commenting
posts, etc.(Hawks, n.d.). From that, advertising divides into different types and methods such as
sponsorship, public relations, personal selling and direct mail, etc. in order to persuade the
consumers and customers to buy your products. Additionally, the demands need to explain what
is the products, the uses of it and reasonable explanation why they should be bought, that
shown the buyers feel need it. However, in order to success in persuade, we have to target a
certain types of person such as the elders, adults or teenagers. Every type of business requires
consumers so that the business can continue running. Therefore, the only things to get a
consumers is advertising. Advertising helps business gain more consumers and get more
income. Actually, business hire the service from some celebrity to promote their products.
Advertising also control the price of the product because advertising motivate the competition
like when one company set a price of a product and another company set the same price, its
can cause to lower the price of the product. Advertising also affects the economics that it leads
to the creation of the new products and develop or change the product to make consumers
satisfied (Lorette, n.d.)

First day reflection (08/05/17)

For the first day that I start to do this project. My partner and I were thinking of the topic
that we will work for our final project and we decide to advertise. actually, teacher let us think
since last period but we were struggle with it because this topic need to make us interested in.
after we found our main topic already, we make our own topic to be in a form of question, we
create about 10 questions to be our plan, so that when we actually do the project, we will know
what we have to find out and what we need to understand. In this day, I just know about the 4Ps
things that advertise need it. 4P Strategies composed of price, product, place, and promotion.
My basic knowledge is just knowing about advertising needs to have a price, product, and
productions but I just know that it also depends on place that the product will sell out too.

Today class, my partner and I had finalised the topic and chose to go with
Advertisement. Apart from that, we also came up with some sample research questions, so
that I can view some image and objective for my topic research. In addition, we chose this
advertisement absolutely because we are interested in it, but also we want to understand how
advertisement works in economic. That led to create impacts on the behaviour of consumers
and the economic outcome. From that, as we had not study about this topic so this could create
some hard things you are going meet, which is a disadvantage. On the other hand, if we
research enough information and find some basic information, this will solve our problem. As we
go along, we did not have much problems such as stuck in between or cannot find enough
information, which I think this topic will go well in the future.

To sum up, we did find out some interesting things such as 4P strategies that can be
related to our topic. And as we organised our research by making plans first on the first day.
From that, this could help us out a lot and in order to follow the step by step of the plans that we

I looked through the questions that I am


For the second day, I decide to go through curious on, which was How advertising affects
some other questions such as how advertising the behaviour of consumers?. Since I had
affects the behaviour of consumers and the mentioned it earlier in the first day journal, so I

person that look at some advertising and I feel

As we go through the research and what we mentioned earlier in the first journal, we then get to
understand two new of the questions that we have been wanting to understand it. Included:

- How advertising affects the behaviour of consumers and the economic outcome?
- How advertise effect different sides of economics? How does advertise help your
business income? advantages and Disadvantages? How does it changes the economic?

For the first question, as a company or a organiser want to persuade a certain target to buy
products. They will need to providing full detail information and in order to mix with persuasion,
which given a lot of various impacts on the consumers reaction, that it changes the "wants" in
the targets into "needs"(Piana, 2005). From that, in each advertisement like that, mostly it only
includes new functions or unique information. In addition, this helps people to study and
acknowledge the importance and services that available to them. This leads to advertising
affects the consumer behaviours. To say it clearer, advertising is just like a technique where it
helps the demand to connect a good to a need, that people start to feel like they need it but
eventually it is not that necessary. So far, to achieve a high and good response from the
consumers towards the products, the company need to understand the consumers. Additionally,
we are not just sit down, make plans for adverts and process it. But here, the company started
to ask questions, which later this will be a survey, such as ideal target, places, and the contents
(Chau, 2017). Hence, this can a factor that ads kindly make a happiness promise with the
customers and leads to overstating the reasonable effect of the product toward the buyers.
Mostly, adverts always are being divided into category and th en a sub-subject, which means if
they decided to invent new technology, they will just go with one specific items. From that, this
can highlight a connection between their identity to the product and brand (Piana, 2005). Later
on, they decided what saying will affect the customer reaction, example of Dove: Real beauty,
which they just simply say a quote Imagine a world where beauty is a source of confidence, not
anxiety., but this advertisement has gone so wild, since they created an adverts a sensitive and
meaningful contents and quotes (Kolowich, 2015). Following this, not how much effort the
company put in the adverts but also how it effects on the psychology of the consumers.
Consequently, most of the adverts are trying to find the realistic facts and truths, then solve it by
products. As if people use the products, it will grow their confidence in different ways that
depends on the products types. Indeed, the customer shift their own attention from low to high
expectation of the products. As a matter of fact, advertise purpose character here is to build
opinion and corresponding Brand Image or Brand Identity in the consumers mind, which is
an element combined with name, logo, tone, tagline and the current view inside their mind, that
provides information in form of value from the company toward the buyers. Furthermore, the two
well-known psychological methods that economics and businesses are using nowadays for
advertisement included: mere exposure and classic conditioning.

Mere exposure:

It is a psychological way that people tend to develop a preference for things merely because
they are familiar with them. In addition, it performs in variety different ways of things such as
words, paintings, pictures, geometric figures and sounds. From that, the more somebody
interact with, the more the attraction, the pleasing and the likeable the person appears to be
(Markman, 2008). Hence, this leads to the more trustable from a customer towards the
company, which as the more adverts exposed, buyers cognitive system will start storing more
and more information about these adverts. Therefore, they will automatically notice the safety
and reliable in the products.

Classic conditioning:

According to Ivan Pavlov from Nobel Prize (1904), this technique has come after an idea from
his study of his dog. Pavlov noticed that his dogs would start to salivate whenever he would
enter the room even if he did not have food. This was because the dogs had an expectation that
they would receive food when Pavlov came into the room because every time he did have food,
he would walk into the room. From that, Pavlov decided to start ringing a bell whenever he gave
food to his dogs, and after a while the dogs would, whenever they heard the sound of a bell,
start salivating. At this point, it shows that because the dogs were trained to associate the sound
of the bell with food coming and trained to have the expectation of food. Moreover, this has
adopted on human, as brands will try to have certain feelings, reactions or images associated
with their product (McLeod, 2008). If in their advertisements they show certain images in
conjunction with their product, the consumer will subconsciously relate the images to the
product. The best part of this technique is that it always works. No matter how much you try to
block out the advertisements, as long as you see them, will start to subconsciously relate the
images. For example, car brands are the biggest culprit of using this sneaky technique,
including someone driving the car, or luxury brand will have people in black tie pulling up to a
red carpet event rather than have anything to do with the actual car. From this, the consumers
tend to buy the image of being someone that goes to black tie events, since the car barely
matters at that point, it is the image that you are buying.
Above all, high price, solid materials, sturdy packaging and celebrity endorsements all
raised peoples expectations, and likely psychologically affect people thinking (Piyush, n.d.).

Second day reflection (15/05/17)

For the second day, I need to did some research about how advertising affects the consumer
behavior, how advertise helps businesses income, and also about how advertising changes the
economics. I learned many new things about advertising like the advantages and disadvantages,
for example advertise can make money but also cost a lot of money, and this cause the price of
the product raised. In the future, if I want to advertise somethings. I can use these techniques
to advertise my products and I might reduce some cost from advertising in the way that use less
cost but consumers can have a look at it. I have difficulty searching about the behavior of
consumers that how they will thinks but I realized that Im also one of the consumers, so I think
back when I saw the advertising on televisions or on internet and I found out that each of
consumers are interested in different products and each people have a different attitude. Thats
why advertising need to attract people and make them interested in our products.

Follow the direction from the rubric and also my group personal plans. I had researched about

one of the questions that our group has been curious of its contents. As what are the ways and
techniques of each organiser like that can sway the consumers mind, which us, and in order for
them to sell products. Moreover, I think this will be a hard questions for us to answer or even for
the sellers, too. Since I had confused myself in the time research, which the contents mean this
but I understood another way round. But as I research, it has drawn out for the image of ways
apart from how they are doing it, this is depends on the targets, the products and especially
their use of words and information. Sometimes, advertising can affect in a way that we will be
surprised. From that, this question will be our main topic about in order to answer my own
personal question.

In conclusion, I did find today research is quite hard, which may take me two days for
research and may slow down our process. However, what I did to prevent this to not happen is
to organise an appropriate time in class and outside the class. In addition, I will do research and
help my partner in write journal, do more research in my free time and to write reflection of each
day. From that, I can learn from my mistakes, and to note websites into my reflection so I can
know where the information come from.

I did not expect that we would have another research day, since the first time we only
have 2 days research. However, it is a relief that today is another free day for us to research.
From that, I had used this plenty of time to research the parts that I had not finished from
yesterday. That I found out more about it was that, the sellers had advertise their products by
tries to get consumers attention from weak to strong side of product and modify the weights by
attributes to their importance. From that, this provides the seller the extent adjust expectation on
product from consumers. Moreover, I again had studied 5 different stages of advertise in order
to give out a big effective factors, included market analysis, selecting the advertising media,
cost-benefit analysis, mode of advertising and creating the actual advertisement. This leads me
to understand how important advertise is toward economics and consumers.

Sum up, I found today research way easier as I go smoothly with my plans that set up
yesterday. From that, I had finished half of my research and now I only had to decide what my
final product it, which we will go with infographic. That it looks like an advertisement paper,
which can let the reader take as an example.

As I expected, this topic has took me in researching for more 2 days, since it is really
hard for us to find the information. Although we did not give up and try harder, from that, I and
my partner did find some websites about what we need. In addition, while research, I had found
out the 2 popular techniques or affection that have a huge on buyers like us. Including mere
exposure and classic conditioning, which the purposes are to build opinion and corresponding
Brand Image an element combined with name, logo, tone, tagline and the current view. From
that, as we know, mere exposure is means the more a person contact with the adverts, the
more information they got and can change the thoughts. At this point, it made us realised that
this is very true, because as we know more information about it, we then get the trustable
source of a products from different advertises.

To sum up, we did a lot of things today in order to carry out this conclusion. Moreover,
we did read a lot of journal from different psychologist to see their opinions and research, in
order to understand how can advertise have so much effects on people just by seeing them
every day.

18th May, 2017

Today, I do not have class but to catch up my classmates, I then did some research at
home to add in my journal and gain more needed information for my research questions. From
that, I carried on and continued what I had done left, which is classical conditioning. Classical
conditioning has opened up a new knowledge for me that it was about Ivan Pavlov, the
physiologist who discovered and experiments on this methods. At first, it was quite hard for me
to understand how it is really works, but as I go through and to see his dogs sample this has
brought me to the understanding on the ways it effect. That I realised the more we interact with
the advertisement, the more we will be influence with it that caused us to buy their products by
the image rather than the actual product meaning.

In conclusion, I had gone parts of my researching, and the last question left is that
how advertise effect on the economic outcomes. Apart from this, I started to create my
infographic along, including the background, and some pictures that related to my topic.

Advertise provides more chances for consumers reach to the products due to the
contents in the advertisement. From that, this leads to increase the business sales volume
(Piana, 2005), and also create a different products environment to compare with the
competitors. At this point, the more business gaining profits, the more the economics of the
government and country to grow further, which businesses start to expand the profits and also
the expansionary of their business, that means they have more and more money. In here, they
have more abilities to pay interest rates, taxes and buy stocks or sell stocks that can increase
economic.
Advertising is a tools for helps business to go through the market that business are in.
Advertising can helps business income by provide some basic informations of the product or
some slogan of the product for making consumers remember their product .Increase sales by
telling the ability of their product or service to promote the product then fine the target of the
consumer and change or fix the product to make it the same as consumers target or maybe for
some product, company should let consumers design the product by themselves but it need to
be safe and both of company and consumer were agree with it (Ramptom, n.d.). Advertising
have many advantages, for example, it introduce and describe the product that is new by using
the trend that were famous in that time. The most advantages that business want to get is more
consumers which leads to more income. All business want this to increase their selling.
Advertising is very helpful for managing the expanding of the product to market and its very
important for companies to continue to advertise the product for a long term. Some
disadvantage of advertising is it increase the payment of the business. It require a lot of cost to
make one ads and it also need to pay more money to find a way to show the advertise out for
consumers to look at it. Disadvantage also undermine social values because it makes people
stay in day dreaming and this take people away from reality by introduced product
overestimated. Advertising also increase a large cost to business because it needs money to
hire some service from others company to make ads. Misleading claims is also disadvantage
because some smart advertiser make the picture or video of the advertise very bright which
make people want to buy their product and increase their selling. Some company support illegal
programs by choosing them as transportation for them to advertise. These programs decrease
the values of the people which is called promoting social evils.

In today class, I continued to search about the advantage and disadvantage of


advertising. I confuse of some of disadvantage because in the first time that I read, it doesnt
make sense for me but when I read and think along I realize that its really effect the economic. I
also know about some disadvantage of advertising already. For example; it very expensive. Not
only this basic information that I know, I also know about some advantage of advertising too and
this can help me in the future that how can I get the most benefit from advertising.

I carried on finding the information to answer my questions, which was how


advertisements can affect to economic outcomes. From that, I had the abilities to link the
information from the first question to this question, which advertises had effected the classical
conditioning and the mere exposure toward the customers, in order to influence them to
interested in the business products. At this point, it has led to increase the number of customers
coming to buy the business products, as they gain more trust-able reasonable through the given
information in the contents of the advertisement; where it is also a way that give the consumers
easier chances to reach the products. Following this, it helps the business to increase sales,
which led to increase the profits against the payment that they had made to pay for the
advertisement. In here, this is a factor that they can increase the money supply in business in
order to pay taxes, interest rates, stocks and bonds, which helps the country economic grow.

In conclusion, as I had finished my research parts. So I am working on my infographic as


the final products. That I and my partner, started to summarise different main points out to put in
the infographic along making words shorter.

After finish research for the needed information, we decide to create an infographic,
which is our final products. From here, we find out an application called Affinity Designer that we
will design our infographic in here. We need to design our infographic to look professional and
attract people to read our work. At first, it is really a hard program to use since we had never
use any photoshop programs and this is our first time. Apart from this, we gain a lot of skills and
knowledges that are very useful later on, including know how to use a photoshop program,
understand how advertising can affect the consumers and customers behaviours and affect on
the economic outcomes, and also about the basic information of advertising. Following that, as
we summarise our information into bullet points, we then put them into our infographic.In order,
we research some different sample of infographic that look professional and to create our own
unique style by dividing topic in small boxes.

Fourth day reflection


22nd May, 2017

Masna Thoumprathom

For today class, my partner and I start to start to design our final product which is
infographic. We need to make it look professional and unique design. We summarize the
information as shortest as we can but people still can understand our point of dong this
infographic. We decide to go to the website call Font.com to find some front that match with our
work. We use photoshop program to decorate our infographic, we have a hard time to design
our product because we need to make it attract people and look nice. Finally, we finish our
product in the period and we were really satisfy with this product. This is also one of the skills
that I can use for my future.

In todays class, I and my partner begun to design our infographic that look unique to the
others. From that, we had gone to the website call Font.com to download variety of different
fonts. At first, we chose a wrong font style that it was so hurt to read, but with the help of our
class Project Manager, they had point out the negative in order to fix our problems. Then, we
became more carefully in choosing the right fonts, by typing it first to see if we can read it. Next,
we decided to look up some example of unique infographic, which helped us to create a new
ideas of making different boxes with different topics in it. Moreover, this is the first time we are
using the Photoshop program, so we found very difficult as we have to find where the things that
we need is in the program.

In conclusion, we did find difficulty during making the final product, but I think as we go
through in a period, we can get the skills improve and become better in future.

23rd May, 2017

As I found difficult in using photoshop program, so yesterday night, I had gone to surf the
internet to learn about the program. From that, I had become more fluently and easily in using
the program in today class. That I started to design our background and template as I follow the
plan that we made before, and to learn the mistakes from the last class. At this point, I feel that I
am becoming better days by days during using the program. After I finish making our
infographic template, we then divided into 8 boxes, that my partner will have 4 boxes the same
as mine. From that, we then put in our summarised information into the 4 boxes that we had
chosen so far. Apart from that, to not making mistakes or not to rush and do not stay behind the
class, we carefully arranged them and also did some works as homework too.

From that, we had finished up to around 6.5 boxes in today class and after class time.
That we are going to finish the left in tomorrow class.

24th May, 2017

As I go along with the Photoshop program, I then become more fluently and faster in
finding and editing things for my infographic. From that, it has ceased the wasting time down to
allow me to finish my products in today class. That I feel very exciting and happy after seeing
my final products coming out after putting so much efforts in it. In addition, we then finished the
product already. And to carry on finish the journal that summarise about what we learnt and
what we done and our goals, which may took us a week until the due date.

In conclusion, to finish it neatly and professionally, I think I should give more time in
writing and checking it every day. But also, do not forget to do other subjects works.
