The UChicago Philosophy Review is currently

seeking applicants for our 2017-2018

editorial board.

The journal is now beginning to publish again for the first time in two years

and, as such, we are undergoing significant changes in an attempt to make

the journal more representative of our diverse academic world. As such, this

is the perfect time for new voices to join our board and help us sculpt UCPR

into a cutting-edge, interdisciplinary journal that reflects the diverse ideas

and opinions on campus. Regardless of your major or year, we would love to

offer you the opportunity to join in our work.

We are seeking applications for the following positions:

Personnel Management: Our personnel management officer is


responsible for assisting the oversight of the journals reviewers. The goals
are to enforce deadlines, assist with reviewer training, and retain our
members interest in UCPR by planning events.

Treasurer: The responsibilities of the treasurer include keeping detailed


accounts of the UCPRs expenses and budgetary needs. The Treasurer is
responsible for requesting funds from the University as well as from the
Department of Philosophy.

Global Editor: The responsibilities of the global editor are to create and
sustain relationships with undergraduate philosophy departments
throughout the USA and world. The global editors two goals should always
be to increase the number of submissions we receive and to increase our
readership.

Associate Editors: Associate editors, as well as the treasurer, global editor,


web editor, personnel management officer, design editor, and graduate
liaison, are responsible for reading the reviewer responses to the submitted
papers as well as the papers themselves and coming to a consensus with the
Editor in Chief regarding selection.

At the top of the first page of your application:

1. Your name.
2. The year you expect to graduate.
3. Your major or expected major.

Then answer the following questions.

1. What philosophical idea has been most influential to your personal


thought?
2. Please rank your positions in order of preference #1 as your most
preferred and #4 as your least preferred. What are your qualifications
for the position you seek?
3. What ideas do you have that you would like to implement in your role
with UCPR, and more generally, in what direction would you like to
see the journal move? As mentioned above, the journal is restarting
after two years of not publishing. This offers board members the
exciting chance to have a major influence shaping our journal. In what
way would you want to shape our journal?
4. Why are you passionate about philosophy and the position you seek on
the board?
