CORRUPTION
Good morning to all of us, especially to our honored guest speaker today,
ladies and gentlemen, let me express my gratitude at being given this opportunity
to address an issue concerning corruption in the country. May I ask everybody of
you, what comes to your mind if you hear the word corruption?
Corruption is one of the deadly, undesirable and wicked sins that has been
imposed on the innocent man by some hungry looking monsters. It is universal,
almost like a biased, negating version of God for the present times. It doesnt
sound good when we hear that it has not only led to the broken of the
administrative system and poor law and order, but also some serious causes like
poverty and redtapism, which has led to the societys disability. It has distorted all
values and made mincemeat of morality, truth and virtue. It has entered into
every single aspect of our lives becoming all-pervasive just similar to the air we
breathe. It is growing massively in huge proportions and there is barely any
sphere of social, political, economic and even religious activity that is free from
graft, fraud and corruption of some kind. It is now regarded as a fact of life and an
evil which is inseparable with which we have to live with throughout.
In addition, the term corruption can be simply defined as the abuse of
entrusted power for private gain. The word can covers whole range of abuses. On
one level it can refer to the risk of taxpayers money in Governments projects
being fraudulently spent or stolen. On another level it can refer to corruption
within a countrys financial structure and institutions in the private sector, with
the negative impact that this has on growth forecast.

However, people suffering from any problem, disease, etc. should keep
patience and trust on themselves and never do anything bad in life. As, one
negative step of anyone may harm the lives of many people. We are not a single
entity on this earth, there are many like us, so we should think a little about others
and live life happily and peacefully with positive thoughts.
The reality of the effects of corruption is the grave socio economic threats
it poses to nations. Corruption suppresses economic growth by driving up costs,
and undermines the sustainable management of the environment and natural
resources. It breaches fundamental human rights exacerbates poverty and
increases inequality by diverting funds from health care, education and other
essential services. The malignant effects of corruption are felt by billions of
people everywhere. It is driven by and results in criminal activity, malfunctioning
state institutions and weak governance.
It is clearly the nations most formidable challenge and a threat to our
future. The campaign against corruption is one in which we all have a direct and
important stake. Corruption retards the pace of development and impedes
developmental activities. Corrupt practices create hindrance in governments
efforts aimed at providing basic social services and alleviating poverty. The
question for resolution is how does the fight against corruption interplay within
the display of corporate integrity within multinational operations?
It is often said that an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure and for
business organizations, this is achieved through an effective internal program for
preventing and detecting violations of law or for ethical standards.

It is time for us people to start paying attention to these issues and

understand that we must fight corruption to end these miserable issues upon our
people. It is therefore that corrupted people must suffer the consequences
incurred by their actions and should be punished according to the Islamic system.
But what if the people within the system are also corrupted? Then I believe that
change comes from within us if we are willing to step up to these people and by
taking initiatives, sacrifices and perhaps try to influence people and future
generations to put pressure in the face of corruption. One of the ways of
applying pressure and drawing attention to this case was shown by a reporter a few
days ago who threw a pair of shoes at the united states president. Although I liked
the idea but other methods such as demonstrations are proved to be effective
methods and as I've stated earlier, its all about taking sacrifices and initiatives
towards these methods, that we can eliminate corruption.
