Fuel Pressure Sensor, Replacement

You must read and understand the precautions and


guidelines in Service Information, Function Group
20, "Engine Safety Practices" before performing this
procedure. If you are not properly trained and certified
in this procedure, ask your supervisor for training before
you perform it.

DANGER
Do not attempt to repair or service this vehicle without
sufficient training, the correct service literature and the
proper tools. Failure to follow this could make the vehicle
unsafe and lead to serious personal injury or death.

DANGER
Before working on a vehicle, set the parking brake, place
the shift lever in Neutral, and block the wheels. Failure to
do so can result in unexpected vehicle movement and can
cause serious personal injury or death.

Removal

Park the vehicle on a flat level surface, apply the parking
brake, and place the shift lever in neutral (manual
transmission) or Park (automatic transmission). Turn the
ignition key to the OFF position.

Position wheel chocks at the vehicle rear wheels to
prevent the vehicle from rolling.

Operate the hood release and raise the hood of the
vehicle.

Disconnect all cables from the negative (ground) battery
terminals to prevent personal injury from electrical shock
and prevent damage to electrical components.

Disconnect the wiring harness lead from the fuel pressure
sensor connector.

Remove the defective sensor from the top of the fuel filter
housing. Remove and discard the old O-ring.

Installation

Place a new O-ring on the fuel pressure sensor port on
top of the fuel filter housing. Screw in the replacement
fuel pressure sensor by hand until finger tight, then,
tighten the sensor hexagon nut to specification. Refer to
Function Group 20, Specifications.

Connect the electrical harness lead to the connector on
the replacement fuel pressure sensor.

Reconnect all previously removed cables to the negative
(ground) battery terminals.

Start the vehicle and check for proper operation; use
the Tech Tool to check and clear any diagnostic trouble
codes (DTC).

Close and latch the vehicle hood.

Remove the chocks from the rear wheels.
