Cardiff has always been a magnet for
shoppers and now things are even better.
For a touch of retail therapy try the new St
Davids Dewi Sant which has 1.4 million
square feet of shops, restaurants and
cafs.

Cardiffs charming Edwardian and Victorian

arcades offer unique and interesting shops,
cafs and boutiques. Cardiffs original
shopping heart, Queen Street runs through
the city centre and gives easy access to the
Queens and Capitol arcades, both home to
big-brand names.

At Mermaid Quay in Cardiff Bay you'll find

well know brands as well as independent
local stores. Find unique gifts, arts and crafts
as well as Welsh food & drink.

Convenience is the watchword for shopping

in Cardiff, where stores fill the compact city
centre. To make things even easier, park &
ride services to the north, east, south and
west of the city give shoppers a priority run
in, while Central and Queen Street train
stations are both a short stroll from the shops.

To save your legs, Cardiff Bus runs a 10-

minute free shuttle round the perimeter of
the city centre.

When you stop for a refreshing drink in

Mermaid Quay, overlooking Cardiff Bay,
you are making the most of one of
Europes most stylish waterfronts.

It takes imagination to look out on the 200-

hectare fresh-water lake with its sailing
marinas, stylish apartments and five-star St
Davids Hotel and believe that it could ever
have been the tidal approach to the worlds
biggest coal exporting port. Now the 200m
Cardiff Bay barrage has prompted 2 billion
worth of regeneration.

Dominating the skyline is the Wales

Millennium Centre an arts village which is
home to the world-renowned Welsh National
Opera. Seven other organisations are based
there, alongside cafs, restaurants and
Welsh gift shop.

Next door is the Senedd, the debating

Cardiffs rich culture has a diverse range
of influences, from the Romans and
Normans of antiquity to the industrial
revolution and the coal industry - which
transformed Cardiff from a small town into
a thriving, international city.

Cardiff Castle reveals more than 2000 years

of the citys history as a Roman Garrison, a
Norman stronghold and in Victorian times
was transformed by the third Marquess of
Bute and his eccentric architect William
Burges into a gothic fairytale fantasy.

On the northern edge of the city is Castell

Coch, another work for the Marquess from
the imagination of Burges.

St Fagans: National History Museum is a 100-

acre park in the grounds of St Fagans Castle,
