BOP OF CHINA

China current account surplus narrowed sharply to $19 billion in the first quarter of 2017 from $39.3
billion in the same period of the previous year, a preliminary estimate showed. The goods trade surplus
was recorded at $81.7 billion and the primary income surplus at $0.1 billion, while the service deficit
came in at $60.1 billion and the secondary income gap at $2.6 billion. Current Account in China averaged
412.23 USD HML from 1998 until 2017, reaching an all time high of 1330.85 USD HML in the fourth
quarter of 2008 and a record low of -8.96 USD HML in the second quarter of 2001.
