RATIONALE :

Most body types are deviations from standard, hence, students need to learn
modifications in pattern making. At times, for design purpose, certain standard processes,
such as, darts need to be manipulated. This forms an important segment of pattern
making. Support material, such as, lining, shoulder pads, collar stays are an integral part
of Clothing Production study Construction of elements of garments, basic bodice block
for women and children’s block will provide a foundation for advanced clothing
manufacture

Objectives:

The students will be able to :

1. Identify different abnormal and deformed figs.

2. Select texture, colour, print as per occasion, climate and occupation
3. Learn the proper usage of support material
4. Learn principle of dart manipulation
5. Design various patterns with dart manipulation
6. Draft and stitch the easy and close fitting bodice block with sleeves for ladies and
children
7. Stitch different types of sleeves, collars and neck finishings.
