ABSTRACT

PARASITES IDENTIFICATION OF ANISAKIS SP FROM FRIGATE

TUNA (AUXIS THAZARD) AND SKIPJACK TUNA (KATSUWONUS
PELAMIS) ON PASIR PANJANG FISH MARKET LOCATED IN KUPANG CITY
Odulfus Salmon Hibur
Fish known as one of source of high valuable of economy and provider of high protein,
omega 3, mineral, vitamin A and D for human .Species of tuna can be found in almost all of
the East Nusa Tenggara waters becouse these waters is one of migration destination for
species of tuna. Different species of marine shes are known as intermediate host of various
species of parasites, including Anisakis nematode that cause Anisakiasis in human.
Anisakiasis may occure in human after consuming raw or undercooked sh infected by
Anisakis sp. In Indonesia, particularly in east Nusa tenggara, information about Anisakis
Infection of sh is is never reported and not well documented. Therefore, this research was
initiated by collecting nematode larvae from the two species of sh (frigate tuna Auxis
thazard and skipjack tuna katsuwonus pelamis) from Pasir Panjang fish market located in
Kupang City. Organs of sh examined were body cavity, internal organs, and muscle.
Nematode larvae were morphologically identied and those belonging to Anisakis sp, were
separated for degree infection calculation. Parasites were xed in 70% alcohol and the
processed with Carmine pigmetation, along with degree infection calculation.
Morphologically, Anisakis sp can be distinguished with other parasites by the presence of
prominent ventricle and mucron that can be seen clearly under stereomicroscope in Anisakis
sp. Calculation of degree infection shown that degree infection of intestestinum and liver in
frigate tuna is 34% in intestinum and 10% in liver and 20% in liver and 84% in intestne of
skipjack tuna. These calculation of infection degree indicate that liver and intestinum is the
place where Anisakis sp. migration after its defenitif hospes died.
