Recitation Attendance Policy (5 points)

Attendance is mandatory and will be taken at the beginning of class each day. Please notify me
in advance if you know you will be unable to make a class. See course manual for more
information regarding distribution of points.

Class Participation (10 points)

Each week students have the opportunity to earn 1-3 points for participation in recitation
discussion + 1 point for a ticket out the door. Final participation grades will be calculated at
the end of the semester considering total possible points earned.

Class Presentations (5 points)

Students are required to make a short presentation on a noteworthy psychologist at some point
during the semester. Two students will present at the beginning of each recitation.

Quizzes (30 points each)

Three quizzes throughout the semester during recitation each composed of 5-6 short essay
questions. Students who miss a quiz must plan on making up the quiz at the scheduled make-up
exam period during finals week. All students have the opportunity to complete missed quizzes
and exams at the end of the semester, regardless of reason for absence.

Homework Assignments (20 points each)

Homework assignments will be turned in at that start of recitation before the quiz is
administered. Electronic submissions will not be accepted. Late homework assignments may
be accepted up to one week late with a 50% penalty. Homework will not be accepted after that
period unless you provide sufficient documentation of an excused absence.

Research Paper (30 points)

A list of research paper topics will be provided by Dr. Palfai. No late papers will be accepted for
this assignment. The rules governing documented/excused absences still apply, but there is no
one-week grace period for this assignment. This assignment will be submitted via Turn It In.

Research Participation (20 points)

You are expected to participate in at least four hours of research through the PSY 205 subject
pool. Students have the right to choose not to participate in research and are expected to make
alternative arrangements, as are any students younger than 18. Please refer to course manual.

Exams (60 points each)

There will be three non-cumulative, multiple-choice exams administered during lecture section
throughout the semester. Students who miss an exam must plan on making up the quiz at the
scheduled make-up exam period during finals week.

Extra Credit (46 points)

You may earn up to 46 additional points by choosing to complete several additional assignments.
See course manual for more detailed information.

Grading Policy
I am in charge of all of your grades, so please come to me with any questions. Grades must be
discussed in person and will not be discussed via email. I will not discuss your grades with
anyone other than you (e.g. a parent/guardian) unless you give me explicit permission to.

Technology Policy
No cell phones, computers, or other devices permitted in class unless approved by the TA in
advance. Students found in violation will receive zero participation points on that day.
