8.CheckLoadgearandturbinecompartmentventfansautochangesover.
9.CheckfreerotationofLiquidfuelFlowDivider.
10.Checklubeoillevel(shouldbemorethan75%)
11.Lineupcoolingwatertolubeoilcoolerandatomisingaircooler.
12.Keeptheatomisingaircoolerinletandoutletdrain(isolation)valvesopenuptoFSNL.
13.Checkthepositionofcompressorbleedvalvesandconfirmthatthesevalvesareopen.
14.Ensurebearingsealingairisolationisolationvalveisopen.
15.Ensurethatguillotinedamperisopenanddiverterdamperisclosed.
16.CheckthepositionofIGVandalsocheckforanyleaksinthehydraulicoilsystem.
17.DrainBHAGKODandBHAGlinenearGTforanycondensate/water.
18.CheckthatthecontrolinterlockandprotectionDCcircuitisfreeofanygroundfault.
19.CheckforanyalarmexistingatMARKV.
20.PutportablefireextinguishernearfuelforwardingskidandalsonearGT.
21.Checkthequalityofsparkfromsparkplugsbeforeinstalling.
22.Checkallflamedetectorsarehealthy.
ACTIVITIES:
1.Checkthelubeoilcircuitphysically.ConnectelectricallyAOP(88QA)andratchetpump
(88HR)andstartRatchetingfromthepanel.Checkthefollowing:
AOPdischargepressureandlubeoilheaderpressure
Individualbearingi/lheaderpressure
properflowoflubeoilthroughallreturnlinesightglasses
Anyleakageinthecircuit.
2.checklubeoilmisteliminatorfan(88QV)isrunningwithratchetselectionandsetthe
vacuumpressureat50mmwc.
3.Followingmotorsaretobeelectricallyconnected,keptonautoandmanualSTOPPBs
aretobekeptinunlockposition.

Connectboththepumpselectrically.

released.
Primethe25micron&5micronfilterswhichareinline.Also,chargethestandbyfilters,
primeandkeepreadyforchangeover.
Startdraintanksumppumpsandemptyoutsothatanyleakageinthesystemcanbe
indicatedbytheincreasinglevelofthedraintank.
PrimetheHSDlined/sof3wayc/ovalve(88FT)uptotheliquidfuelstopvalve(VS1).
Openthetopmostventinsideacc.compartment
Crackopentheisolationvalveu/sof3wayc/ovalve
OncefullboreHSDcomesfromthevent,closetheventvalvefully.
Opentheisolationvalvefully.
6.CheckEOPcutinwithratchetingbystoppingAOPbylogicforcing.
7.Connectdieselenginestartermotor88DSandgiveSTARTcommandtoGT.



CHECKSAFTERSTARTCOMMAND:
1.Checkdieselenginefuelpressure(5kg./cm2)
2.Checkdieselenginecoolingwatero/ltemperature(max.85degreeC)
3.Crosscheckthedieselenginelocaltachometerreadingwiththepanelreadingatdifferent
stages.
4.Checktheconditionofdieselengineexhaust.
5.ChecktheFSDoutletforanyliquidassoonasdieselenginestartsaccelerating.Incaseof
anyliquidcoming,crankingtobecontinuedtilldryaircomes.
6.ChecktheautocutinofwarrenpumpAOP(88QA2)
7.Checktheconditionofboosteraircompressor.
8.Checkthegeneralconditionofthecompartmentsatcrankingspeedforanynoiseor
abnormalsounds.
9.ChecktheliquidpressureatselectorvalveassemblywhilefiringandcontrolHSD
pressurethistime.
10.Checktheautocutinofturbinecompartmentventfanafterfiringtakesplace.
11.Checktheautocutinofaccessoryandloadgearcompartmentventfan.
12.Continuouslymonitorflowdividerpressureandleaksfromferrulejointsofliquidfuellines.
13.Checkthatthedieselengineisdisengagedataround60%speed.
14.Checkforstoppingofdieselengineautomaticallyaftercooldown.Ifnot,dieselenginetobe
stoppedmanuallybypushingthefuelcutoffleverin.
15.Monitorthefollowingonpanelcontinuously:
exhausttemperatureplot
spread
flamedetectorreadings
bearingvibration
bearingmetalanddraintemperatures
lubeoilandatomisingairtemperature
openingofIGV


CHECKSTOBECARRIEDOUTATFSNL:
1.Checkthebleedvalvesareclosed.
2.Checktheautocutinofframeblowersonebyonewithatimedelayof1min.
3.Afterremovingwatercontentsstartselfcleaningofairinletfilters.
4.ChecktheautocutinofAOP,EOP&AHOPbyisolatingthepressureswitches
(63QA,63QL&63HQ)onthelocalgaugepanel.
5.Checkthemisteliminatorsuctionpressure.Maintainitat50mmwcbyadjustingthe
bypassvalve.
6.Checkthefollowingreadings
Flowdividerpressures
MOPdischargepressure,Lubeoilheaderpressure,Hydraulicoilpressure,Tripoilpressure,all
filterDPs,CPD,Atomisingairpressure,allbearinglubeoilinletpressures,warrenpumplube
i/landreturnpressures&filterDP,HPfilterDPetc.

SYNCHRONIZING:
1.AfterensuringallparametersareNormalGTcanbesynchronise.
2.AssoonasGTbreakerisclosed,Machinewilltakespinningreserveloadof4MW.
3.Machinecanloadedasperrequirement.
4.DuetosuddenincreaseinHSDflow,pressuremightcomedowndrastically.So,during
thisperiodcontinuouslymonitorHSDpressureandcontrolifnecessary.

DIESLENGINETRIALONTESTMODE
GTStaringDieselEnginecanbetriedontestmodebydisengagingthestartingclutch.Following
procedureisfollowedforthistest
1.Ensuredieselengineforcoolingwater,engineoil,anddieseltanklevels.
2.Disengagingtheclutch
i.Isolate88DEand88HRmotorsmodules
ii.Opentheguardontheclutchassembly.
iii.Connect88HRandstartratcheting
iv. Before the forward stroke put the clutch disengagement manual 4 way valve
VM21leveronDisengageposition.
This will disengage the clutch during reverse stroke. Check it physically also at MARKV from
L33HR1position.
3. Once the clutch is disengaged put off the ratcheting immediately otherwise the ratchet
mechanismwillremainONcontinuously.
4.Isolate88HRmotormodule.
5.Connect88DEmotor
6.SelectDieselEnginetestmodeonMARKVpanel.
7. Start diesel engine by pressing 43DE1 (diesel engine test switch) locally. Diesel engine
willruntillthisswitchiskeptinpresscondition.
8.Aftersatisfactoryrunandcheckingengineparametersreleasetheswitch.
9.Isolatethe88DEmotor.
10.ComeoutofDieselEnginetestmodeonMARKVpanel
11.NormalisingClutch:
i. Put back the clutch disengagement manual 4 way valve VM21 lever on
Engageposition.
ii.Connect88HRmotorandstartratcheting.
iii.Theclutchwillgetengagedintheforwardstroke.
iv.ChecktheclutchphysicallyandfromL33HR1positioninMARKV
12.Stopratchetingandputbacktheguardontheclutchassembly.
13.ReStartratcheting.

1. In a group of four sensors of turbine one sensor going up to alarm level (12.5 mm/sec)
andothergoingtotriplevel(25mm/sec)willinitiatetrip.
2.Inagroupoffoursensorsofgeneratoronesensorgoinguptoalarmlevel(12.5mm/sec)
andothergoingtotriplevel(25mm/sec)willinitiatetrip.
3. To ensure reliability of the machine two sensors (BB7 & BB8) are provided on the load
gear instead of one recommended by the manufacturer. Any one of these two sensors going up
to trip level or going faulty will notcausetripping of the machine. If one goes to alarm level
andothergoesuptotriplevelwilltripthemachine.
4. If one of the sensors is disabled (considering it is showing a faulty indication), the
remainingthreesensorswillbeconsideredasactiveandunittripwill take place if out of these
threesensorsonegoestoalarmandothergoestotriplevelofvibrations.
5.Ifoneofthesensorsinloadgearisdisabled(consideringitisshowingafaultyindication)
thenunittripwilltakeplaceiftheactivesensorgoestotriplevelofvibrations.
6.If majority (two) of the sensors are disabled then only one sensor going to trip level (25
mm/sec)issufficienttotripthemachine.
7.Ifallthesensorsinagroup(4inturbineor4ingeneratoror2inloadgear)aredisabled
or identified as faulted then turbine AutoFiredShutDown command will be initiated by MARK
V.
Adjacent sensor differential alarm will come if paired or adjacent sensors (defined by
J39R_g)signalsaredifferedbyaconstantLK39DIFF=3.8mm/secafteratimedelayof0.5sec.

Each sensor channel that is defined as being utilised by KJ39U_g mask is monitored for open
circuit sensor faults. If a vibration sensor channel is determined to be faulty an alarm is
annunciated to operator. This sensor can be disabled so that an additional transducer fault will
nottripmachine

AsthefireisdetectedbyanytwoofsensorsinthegroupCO2willbereleasedintherespective
compartments of the group through initial discharge header and extended discharge header.
Initial discharge will be at high pressure and will last for 1 minute for extinguishing the flame.
Theextendeddischarge,whichwillstartalongwithinitialdischarge,willcontinueforsometime
withlowpressure.
Inthegroupof4cylindersprovidedforloadgearandGeneratorcompartmentsadiversionvalve
assembly is given which will divert the released CO2 to either load gear compartment or the
generatorcompartmentdependinguponwherethefireisdetected.
Thecompartmentsventilationfanswillbeputoffassoonasthefireisdetected.TheCO2
pressure,withthedetectionoffirewillclosealsoallthedampersintheventilationsystem.
OnebellwillringintheGThalltoalerttheoperatorwhoistakingroundinsidetheGT
compartmentsbeforereleaseoftheCO2.
