Students will explore types of severe weather by completing a


scavenger hunt. Then they will choose one type of severe weather to
research and create a Pixton comic strip showing the steps to
preparing for this severe weather.

Introduction/Engagement:

Students will explore how to use their Ipads and QR codes to


bring them to a Youtube video that introduces them to severe
weather.

Lesson: (developmental procedures)

Students will explore QR codes and be introduced to severe


types of weather by a video.
Students will complete a scavenger hunt using their Ipads and
QR codes to teach themselves about severe weather.
Students will then choose 1 type of severe weather.
Students will research more about that weather and research
the best ways to prepare for and stay safe in that type of
weather.
Students will create a Pixton comic strip on how to prepare and
stay safe in that type of weather.
Modification:
ELLs will receive a question sheet with questions that can help
guide their research.

Enrichment:
Students that finish can share their comic strips with their
peers in the class.
