Ramadan Kareem

Ramadan is the blessed month of all Muslims in the world, when they do fasting. Fasting is a vital part
of Muslims life. It is also a part of 5 pillars of Islam, the other pillars are: Shahadah, Prayers, Zakat and
Hajj. Quran the holy book revealed in this month.
This year Ramadan started 28 of May, 2017. At An-Nur the Ramadan preparation started at the
beginning of May. We discussed about Ramadan in our mat times. The children started to understand
that Ramadan is approaching soon, what it means, what we supposed to do/not to do in this month.
We read stories about Ramadan which helped children understand that although fasting means not to
eat or drink the whole day. The children dont have to do fasting as the adults do, because they are
still young. They have to grow up. Insha Allah when they are old enough they will be able to do fasting
in the month of Ramadan as their parents and teachers do. The children made countdown chain and
eagerly counted everyday to find out how many days left for Ramadan to start. They were engaged on
variety of Ramadan related art activities and hung those to decorate our classrooms. The children
also learned what Suhoor and Iftar means and what we supposed to do in those two special times. In
Ramadan we go to masjid to say our prayers and do Iftar together with other Muslims. The An-Nur
children are encouraged to learn more Quran in this month, and practicing everyday to memorise
more suras. The children also practicing some nasheed to perform in front of the parents in our Eid-ul
Fitre party inshaAllah. May Allah bless our children and keep them on the straight path.

This year one of our special

Ramadan programmes for the
children was to teach how to do
wudu and pray zuhur prayer.
Islam encourages all Muslims to
sincerely do fasting. One Hadith:
Abu Huraira related The prophet
Mohammad (sws) said, "Whoever
fasts during Ramadan with faith
and seek his rewards from Allah
will have his past sins forgiven.
Whoever prays during the nights in
Ramadan with faith and seeking his
reward from Allah will have his
past sins forgiven. (Bukhari,
Muslim).
