FEDERALISM

Many people nowadays talked about what is really a word Federalism? Kilusang Federal?

As what I have heard to the different speakers, it is very clear that the main purpose of urgently
shifting to a federal form of government is for more effective and efficient governance to hasten
the promotion of peace and prosperity in the Philippines. The adoption of a federal system of
government in the country will need a total overhaul of our present constitution and we think that
the only possible way this to be realized is for congress to call for a Constitutional Convention
(CON-CON) wherein delegates are directly elected by the people.One speaker sited that there are
different steps why there is an urgency to shift into federal system these are law of attraction,
political structures of Philippines, different colonization, bottom-up and top-bottom approach.

Good points highlighted there first is that to awaken us that this new way of government will
give us equality especially to those who lived in far-flung area and barrios. They also notice that
there are priorities in giving funds and projects specially those places in Luzon or in NCR.
Thats why the urgency of Mr. Rodrigo Duterte to run as a president have with him this change
is coming and a new form of government.

Moreover, upon listening to them there are so many queries that raised in my mind because my
understanding in federalism is that the Mindanao will have another government and system.
Does it mean we will not ask any help specifically funds in Luzon and Visayas? How can we
start? Can we achieve the unity despites of different ethnicities and perspectives of
Mindanawon? Can we achieve harmony in diversity?
