1. Overall aims of the course:
By the end of the course the student will be able to:
Explain theory of EM radiation
Describe the concepts of antenna.
Classify the different types of antennas and their applications.
Determine the current distribution along the antenna.
Describe the far field approximation
Identify Antenna parameters
Demonstrate the antenna above ground plane
Derive the radiation from different types of wire antennas (dipole, monopole, loop, long
wire, helix, and uniform array).
Design the helical antenna.
Draw the radiation pattern for different types of antennas
Illustrate the micro-strip antenna.
Demonstrate the frequency independent antennas.
Identify the different measurement techniques of antenna parameters
