Addicted to Love
The definition of love is most likely different for everyone. Love makes people do
unusual things for the people they care about. In some cases, it can also create the risk of people
losing control. In the play Romeo and Juliet, Shakespeare tells the story of two young lovers who
fall in love even though their families are in a rivalry conflict leading to a tragedy. Also, in the
myth of Pyramus and Thisbe, Ovid tells a story of two people who fall in love with each other
by talking through the wall. They wish to marry each other, but they are not supported by their
parents. Like Romeo and Juliet, their story ends in tragedy as well. Analyzing Romeo and Juliet
and Pyramus and Thisbe will show that there is loyalty, pain, and joy in love.
Joy is a great and pleasurable emotion; it makes people feel happy and peaceful. In the
play Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare, Romeo states, Ah me! How sweet is love itself
possessed. When but loves shadow are so rich in joy (V,i,11-12). Romeo is saying that Juliet
represents the dawn, as she is the light that comes up on the horizon. This supports the idea of
how love is joyful because Romeo and Juliet want to makes each others happy. In the movie
Titanic, Jack says , Rose, youre no picnic, all right? Youre a spoiled little brat, even, but under
that, youre the most amazingly, astounding, wonderful girl, woman that Ive ever known. This
means that Jack woos Rose by using cute expressions. This matters because joy makes their love
seems innocent even though they are on the boat that is about to sink, leading to death. Commented [1]: take out and replace with "pyramus

Love is not true love if it does not have loyalty. Loyalty is a strong state of support and
allegiance, in both the play Romeo and Juliet and the myth Pyramus and Thisbe. In Romeo and
Juliet, Juliet states, Go, get thee hence, for I will not away...This is thy sheath. The rust and let
me die, when she saw Romeos dead body lying on the ground (V,iii,172,183). As a result, she
tries so hard to wake him up. Ultimately, after Juliet realizes that her lover is no longer alive, she
kills herself to follow him in death due to her intense love for him. The tragic deaths of Romeo
and Juliet is a testimony to the loyalty intensity love of the young. In Pyramus and Thisbe, the Commented [3]: oh yeah
myth when Ovid wrote it has many similarities like Romeo and Juliet. Thisbe states, Dear boy,
you die by your own hands..I can claim love, and it will give me strength enough to strike
myself. Ill follow you in death(Ovid 2). Thisbe chooses to die with Pyramus. Both Juliet and
Thisbe have same in perceptions and actions when their loves are dead. Their words were speak
out of loyalty to their beloved, showing that this common characteristic to any lover is worthy
and admirable. Juliet and Thisbe have nobel qualities which are an example of a good and holy
kind persons. Loyalty is an indispensable true trait for people that had been in love in all cases.
Heartache has never been great. However, in love, it shows the loyalty or connection to
others. To understand what exactly heartache in love is, an example is shown in a play that was
written by William Shakespeare, he wrote Romeo and Juliet, a popular work in his collection. In
the play, Romeo states, [...] Let me have a dram of poison, such soon-speeding gear (V,i,61-
62).... Heres to my love! ( drinks the poison)...Thus with a kiss I die (V,iii,119-120). Romeo
wants to buy a deadly drug to kill himself in order to live happily with Juliet in heaven. This
matters because they end their life with a passionate kiss, loyalty, and grief for one another.
Another example that can be used to describe grief in love is Pyramus and Thisbe. In the story,
Pyramus states,Now drink from my blood, too! And then de drew his dagger from his belt and

thrust it hard into the his guts(Ovid 2). Pyramus wants to end his life because hes thinks that
Thisbe was dead. True lovers sacrify by willing to die so that they if no longer can be together
alive, then may as well be dead together. Since they are so young and innocent, the plot is more
In any aspect of love - happiness and pain coexist as emotions that cannot be controlled.
The most powerful things in love are joy, loyalty and pain. In affectionate couples, joy gives
them more motivation to seek true love. When true love is found, loyalty becomes indispensable,
however, sometimes in love, there are many possible risks, one of the a typical trait is pain. In
todays modern life, human perception can cause individuals to be or despise others especially
when they have limited knowledge or understanding. An example of this is LGBT community.
People who are LGBT are no different from other people: their hearts love in the same way just
different gender. Some people do not accept the LGBT community and the relationship they
have. Therefore, LGBT people sometimes committed suicide in pain and have heartache. Their
story similar to Romeo and Juliet and Pyramus and Thisbe because they despite the conflicts,
they love and demonstrate loyalty, and experience joy. No matter at what time in history, love of
any kind can cause people to experience different aspect of life in the most joyful, painful or
loyal way.
