Verbs. guided by Muhammad Basri Dalle and Andi Rukayah A.Yahya.

This thesis was a scientific work which aimed to explain the semantic
analysis, and also to enlarge perception of the reader about differences and
classifications of English synonymous verbs which were found in the dictionary.

This thesis used a qualitative descriptive method. It was meant to give


description about the differences and classifications of English synonymous verbs
were found in the dictionary Kamus Sinonim written by Ronald H.Sitorus. there are
two problems in this thesis; what are the differences of English synonymous verbs
and what are the classifications of English synonymous verbs. Data collection was
done by understanding the semantic analysis, it was a primary data. As secondary
data, the data were used to support this study. The researcher used a content analysis
and word reduction to analyze the data.

The results of the research findings and discussions that English synonymous
verbs were differed by two indicators: use and meaning. then, English synonymous
verbs were classified by seven indicators: general, intense, emotive, professional,
literary, colloquial, and dialect-dialectal. While the discussions of this thesis provided
analysis of differences and classifications of English synonymous verbs. This thesis
was meant to know more about English synonymous verbs and understand one of the
important part of linguistics, particularly semantics.
