AMI: Acute Myocardial Infarction

Early detection of MI is crucial to preserve the cardiac function1

Key challenges leading to Cardiac markers are powerful

delayed diagnosis include2 tools for the diagnosis of AMI2

Chest Pain is highly non-specific Guidelines recommend cardiac biomarkers should

be measured at presentation in patients with
Early Diagnosis is challenging in the absence of suspected MI3,4,5,6
history of heart diseases
Creatinine kinase - MB considered as reference
Compromised sensitivity of ECG: standard for MI, but is highly non specific3,4,5,6
30-50% patients initially present with
normal or non-diagnostic ECG Cardiac Troponin is the only biomarker that is
recommended to be used for the diagnosis of
AMI due to its superior accuracy. 3,4,5,6

1. Remove the test device from the sealed pouch

2. Allow the test kit to attain room temperature
3. Using a micropipette/ Sample Dropper, add 4 drops (80L) of whole blood or 3 drops (60L)
of serum/plasma specimen into the sample well (S)
4. Read the result at the end of 15 minutes
Important: Do not read the test after 20 minutes, since it may give incorrect results.
